Default Mares v Santa Cruz-this Saturday

I'll ride with Santa Cruz. I think Mares had kind of blown his wad. Leo reminds me of what a featherweight Margarito would look like. They even share the same 70's mustache. I see the less warn man grinding Mares down to the midway point though it could come earlier. I don't think Mares has his head in the game anymore. You wont be wanting to have to take a leak during this one.

I agree with mares being shop worn and his waning focus. I'm not sure if he ever mentally recovered from that KO. I still have him with the greater potential though and I wonder if LSC can be outsmarted down the stretch. Call it a hunch, you know those times where as much as it makes sense, i have a gut feeling mares may have one more in him. If it runs close though i'm sure the little Haymon elves will be hard at work earning their pay.

Agreed. He might have one left and Leo is a little wet behind the ears having not really been in deep at this level. I think Mares is gun shy and I also think he he was wrong to leave the Espinoza's. They kept him grounded.

I think Cruz out works him for the points win. But if it ends in a knock out I think it'll be Mares scoring it

I'm picking Mares he's fought better opposition where Santa Cruz has fought taxi drivers for years. Close fight but I think Mares takes it. Don't forget that Santa Cruz is moving up

If Mares is there mentally he'll win. He has too many tools in the shed for Santa Cruz who is very one dimensional.

Fan wise I seriously hope Santa Cruz chops wood on Mares for wide 12. But Leo has moved so rapidly that he is the type you fear hitting the wall. He looked lethargic and void of defense last out and it comes down to approach of Mares. If he boxes long and has cleared the ghosts, I think he'll keep Leo planted on slow feet with a decent size advantage. Bully him a bit late..or hit him 101 low blows. Hope not

Mares has been really inactive if I'm not mistaken.

Hard not to favor Santa Cruz on consistency. However the more talented and explosive fighter is Mares.

Interesting, I thought Santa Cruz actually looked a little one paced and pedestrian in his last fight as well, plus he hasn't got big power. Assuming they both rise to this and come correct, I've got Mares. He's bigger and more talented, LSC reminds me of a smaller Margarito in a big way.

Close fight. I fancy Mares at the price. Pretty close to a 50/50 for me.

Mares is definitely better and Leo hasn't at all impressed me in his last few fights. If mares at all shows up, I think he wins handily.

I don't know if he's worn-out or Gonzalez put a huge dent in his confidence. That KO has something to do with his performance now, he's a different fighter. I like Santa Cruz too in this one, but I wish Mares would come out of the funk he's in now.

Default Abner Mares vs Leo Santa Cruz.

A sticky thread for Mosley-Mayorga but not this? Televised bouts start in about half an hour I think, if a mod wants to make me feel like I contribute here, that would be neat.
