If you could make a fight card with any five fights with any fighter in history able to participate, which fights/fighters would you choose, and why? My card would look like this:
1. Prime Hagler vs a Prime Hop: My top two middleweight champs (my opinion why and for a different thread) fighting for the #1 spot. Both durable, skilled, and versatile fighters who wrapped themselves and their self worth in their titles.
2. Riddick Bowe vs Lennox Lewis: biggest fight of my lifetime that DIDN'T happen. Lennox eventually became the undisputed man of the division, but was not at that level when this fight would've happened. Huge missed opportunity for the sport.
3. Mike McAllum vs Tommy Hearns: Another great fight that should've happened and a suoerfight that McAllum deserved. Mikes chin, versatility/well rounded skills, and body attack vs Tommys superior speed and power but shaky chin and vulnerable rib cage.
4. James Toney vs Nigel Benn: at 168 this fight would've been an instant classic with Benns agression, huge punch, and underrated skills against Toneys granite chin, superb defense, and pin point counters.
5. Roberto Duran vs Julio Ceasar Chavez: two offensive juggernauts wanting to prove their machismo by dominating the ring. Both had subtle skills not appreciated or understood by casual fans and both were ram tough and seek and destroy fighters.
Honorable mention: Quartey vs Tito, Sweet pea vs Floyd, Ray Leonard vs Aaron Pryor, Oscar vs Kostya
