Only watched Selby twice but as mobile as he is, he does get hit with a lot of throw away left hooks, sloppy shots when he switches. Great composure and reflex though. Don't buy a worn Montiel at featherweight to begin with..hope they allow a 10' ring and a ladder...but he is the deepest and possibly quickest counter Selby has faced and he is coming Stateside to do it. Selby looking for a showcase breakout of sorts. If only more fighters traveled!

Seems like a proper mismatch to me. Montiel was a guy I never really followed, but he looked like a little kid against Donaire(who is 5'5 or 6!), and that was at bantam.. Selby has got to be pretty tall for a natural featherweight even, I don't see the point.

That's my problem with it. Montiel is too small having spent a large portion of his career at 112. That and he has been a professional boxer for 2 more years of his life than he has not been a professional boxer. In other words he is old for such a small fighter and extremely worn. After reading about this I naturally assume Selby is with Matchroom. The same people that are talking about Brook/Mosley in December 😳

Selby is with Al Haymon. The fight has basically nothing to do with Matchroom.

Where have they talked about Mosley-Brook? Link?

He's with PBC too. It's a poor match-up. Selby is taking a step back in level of competition and we shouldn't hold our breadth for better competition.

No he just fought in the spring and fought 3 times in 2014 all above 126 against bigger taller guys that were not pushovers. People are making far to big a deal over weight and height. He was fighting close to bantam at times in 2004.He probably killed himself to make 115 but loved the 1 punch power it gave him against smaller guys at fight time. His body probably had issues maintaining that so he went to 118 and most likely started having issues there. Once some of these guys make the jump out of the division they were conditioned in they have a tendency to jump more then 1.

Look at Manny. Only an inch taller and a half inch reach advantage who started at 106 and fought as a fly until 1999 and then jumped 3 divisions at once from 112 to 122 just 3 months after his last fight as a fly.

Lee better not sleep on this cagey vet and get dazzled by the big fight across the pond. I dont consider this a step back at all and in fact its somewhat a step up. It will also most likely be a pro Montiel crowd.

Montiel was always fun to watch but he has been on the slide for awhile now. This should be a showcase fight for Selby unless something goes drastically wrong.

That's just one but it is in more places, he was on TV in the UK talking about it too. Do you follow boxing or just follow me asking to show you what is happening? Let me know if you need more links

Edit-I can't seem to get links to work here from my phone. But you can go there and read it or many other places by simply searching "Brook talks about fighting Mosley" there are many because they've talked about it all week.

Don't flatter yourself. If you claim something you should be able to back it up. Simple.

Your "evidence" is an article written by a well known troll. Where do you think he got the quotes from? That's right, the UK TV programme Brook was on (Sky Sports).

Here is what you said ---

Nowhere in that pathetic article does it contain a single quote from Brook/Matchroom about a potential fight between Brook and Mosley in December. That is a fact.

Childs play. I told you how to find it. Here's one with a direct quote from Brook "it could happen"

I can pull up more and more if you like. Or perhaps it is easier if you just admit you are wrong? No, I bet I can link 40 and each quote from Brook won't work for you.

Right on. Montiel is still very capable of fast counters with pop, he is much deeper and ring wise than a Gradovich who wasn't exactly missing Selby in spots. Physically though his legs are sketchy, tight and wide stance. Dude was on the canvas six times last out but not from punches. Selby movement might just keep him stuck between styles and wear them out, keep him reacting all night.
