Povetkin looks far more explosive/active now than he did a few years ago (I keep seeing the cynics claim the juice). The PTS backers must be seething as that cut was below the eye, Wach would have finished the fight ().
Buffer introduced him as the WBC world champion, so although it was obvious beforehand Wilder's mob weren't going anywhere near him, we now have two WBC champs - Russian and American. Makes sense.
3-Time SADDO PREDICTION COMP CHAMPION.
Come on y'all tell us what happened, instead of "another tko in the books", or "I'm so happy now!"
PLEASE, PLEASE, AND PLEASE!
What happened?
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Povetkin is and always has been a good fighter he's just been plagued with that inconsistency of getting good fights and management troubles.
Now beating Wach like this might not mean that 100% he WILL be trouble for Wilder because we've all seen him get neutralized by power in his loss to Wlad. And yes I said POWER because Wlad smacked him hard, sent him to the canvas, and then never allowed Alexander back in the fight...sure the tactics were boring, but effective cue ross and erics44's whining about holding.
Wilder won't use Wlad's tactics...probably because Povetkin's trainers will have given the ref an earful before the fight even starts (or they SHOULD do that). And because let's face it, Wilder isn't your typical "smart boxer" he's pure power. I think Povetkin could stop Wilder IF he times him right, he's just going to have to time a counter and be ready to pounce. But he has to keep his head moving, he has to keep Wilder off of him, and he has to keep those hands free and moving.
This is what happened! In no particular order.
Alexander Povetkin vs Mariusz Wach
Povetkin TKOs Wach in 12th due to cut.
Denis Lebedev vs Lateef Kayode
Lebedev TKOs Kayode in 8th. Kayode down in 7th and 8th.
Eduard Troyanovsky vs Cesar Cuenca
Troyanovsky TKOs Cuenca in 6th. Cuenca's corner very upset with ref. Why? Nobody bothered to explain.
Ola Afolabi vs Rakhim Chakhkiev
Afolabi KOs Chakhkiev in 5th. Chakhkiev goes down face first.
Dmitry Kudryashov vs Olanrewaju Durodola
Kudryashov TKOs Durodola in 2nd.
