    Default Thoughts with Nick Blackwell

Blackwell in Medically-Induced Coma After Eubank Jr. Loss - Boxing News

He had a small brain bleed after taking a lot of shots. I hope he gets through this.

They were straight on the case so hopefully he will be ok.

Pretty sure thats it for his boxing now though and that will hurt more than the loss.

Its difficult to take because Eubank Sr is filmed talking about something like this happening in the press conference and even between rounds! I think Hennessey and Locket need to look at themselves because they allowed him to go out without a hope in hell of winning and tiring while Eubank was still strong and throwing combinations with reckless abandon.

It could have been prevented. Blackwell could be sat at home now feeling sorry for himself but able to box again and not in intensive care in a coma!

There are three scenarios that will happen

    1) He will die.
    2) He will have permanent damage (Eg Michael Watson - Gerald McClellan)
    3) He will make good recovery.

    We all hope it's #3.

But one thing we do know for sure, is that his fighting career is over. I thought it was a great fight. I for one, don't think the fight should have been stopped. Blackwell was never badly rocked. He was never down and even though he was taken big shots, his body posture, his legs, his balance and his whole bodily demeanour was that of a strong fighter who was in the fight.

So when Eubank was trying to do that Joe Calzaghe, Oscar De La Hoya thing, of trying to con the ref into stopping the fight, by blitzing Blackwell with a flurry of lots of half arsed arm punches, to get the ref to stop it. I can see why the ref did not buy it. Blackwell is a tough, tough, tough kid. Hope he pulls through.

Nick showed heart and took tremendous punches. Eubank was excellent and the fight was a good showdown for the British title.

No one is to blame for the injury it was stopped at the right time.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.

Denilson your talking rubbsh! Those werent arm punches, Eubank was loading up, they were landing Blackwells head was snapping back. Usually in fights like this people say "thats the type of fight that shortens a career". Well it was allowed to go on for too long and now Blackwell is paying the price because some people "thought" he was fine. The evidence was there, repeatedly taking good shot after good shot, too far behind to win on pounts, Eubank too strong to hurt by a tiring fighter. Unfortunately some peoples blood lust to see their moneys worth and poor judgement has led to Blackwell being in a coma.

To late to blame the damage has been done Blackwell is extremely tough,! boxing is and always has
been dangerous but it's safer now than it has ever been, with medical help at ringside thank god theses
    people were there last night.
Chaps you NO when you see fighters getting hit to much and Blackwell was,! he needed to be pulled
out about round 7 in my opinion, we see fights week in week out thankfully theses injury's are few and
far between, hopefully Nick Blackwell makes a good recovery I love boxing and none of us on here want
to see anybody hurt do we.
Remember how Eubank must be feeling in reality he must be thinking the same thing happened with
his father and Michael Watson SHIT.

Yeah, hindsight is wonderful. Always someone to blame after the fact.

We're just as much to blame for loving/supporting a "sport" that is about smashing peoples head in.

Ref could have told blackwell corner to step it up a round before?

    Or a standing 8 count?

    Eubank was superb.

Such a shame on the aftermath.

Listening to a debate on Radio 5 Live, and they are saying that Eubank Sr knew Blackwell was being hurt in the eighth and told his son to go to the body to try and save him punishment. This is fine, but Eubank Sr was urging that earlier in the fight too.

This is why they shouldnt put just anyone in as a ref, because you would of seen him maimed or killed. Some refs are there to please the commission and the crowd first, they are not there for the fighters well being as a no1 priority.

Aside from a 99 to 1 shot, he couldnt of won that fight from where he was.

Dont know if you guys who havent got facebook can see this:

I cant find a full length one elsewhere. But this video shows Eubank Snr in the 5th round telling his son the ref isnt doing his job and he needs to finish this with body shots not head shots as Blackwell is getting hurt and there is no point to that. In the 5th! That should really tell you all something when the fight went on into the 10th round.

I think that we have blamed everyone possible in the aftermath of this, the ref, the promotors, JR, the corner, ourselves

It really does draw comparrisons to Bob Dylans 'Who killed Davey Moore' its well worth a watch even if you don't like him just for the similarities

    Who killed Davey Moore?
Why an' what's the reason for?

    "Not I", said the referee
"Don't point your finger at me
I could've stopped it in the eighth
An' maybe kept him from his fate
But the crowd would've booed, I'm sure
At not gettin' their money's worth
It's too bad that he had to go
But there was a pressure on me too, you know
It wasn't me that made him fall
No, you can't blame me at all"

    Who killed Davey Moore?
Why an' what's the reason for?

"Not us", said the angry crowd
Whose screams filled the arena loud
"It's too bad he died that night
But we just like to see a fight
We didn't mean for him to meet his death
We just meant to see some sweat
There ain't nothing wrong in that
It wasn't us that made him fall
No, you can't blame us at all"

    Who killed Davey Moore?
Why an' what's the reason for?

    "Not me", said his manager
    Puffing on a big cigar
"It's hard to say, it's hard to tell
I always thought that he was well
It's too bad for his wife an' kids he's dead
But if he was sick he should've said
It wasn't me that made him fall
No, you can't blame me at all"

    Who killed Davey Moore
Why an' what's the reason for?

"Not me", says the gambling man
With his ticket stub still in his hand
"My wasn't me that knocked him down
My hands never touched him none
I didn't commit no ugly sin
Anyway, I put money on him to win
It wasn't me that made him fall
No, you can't blame me at all"

    Who killed Davey Moore
Why an' what's the reason for?

"Not me", says the boxing writer
Pounding print on his old typewriter
    Sayin', "Boxing ain't to blame
There's just as much danger in a football game"
Sayin', "Fist fighting is here to stay
It's just the old American way
It wasn't me that made him fall
No, you can't blame me at all"

    Who killed Davey Moore?
Why an' what's the reason for?

"Not me", says the man whose fists
Laid him low in a cloud of mist
Who came here from Cuba's door
Where boxing ain't allowed no more
"I hit him, I hit him, yes, it's true
But that's what I am paid to do
Don't say 'murder,' don't say 'kill'
It was destiny, it was God's will"

    Who killed Davey Moore
Why an' what's the reason for?

I'm sorry but I think this is getting stupid. Not only is the ref to blame , but Sr. Is some sort of Messiah!
I've even read said somewhere that Eubank Sr. Saved Blackwell's life ffs!
Are you telling me that the fight should've been stopped at the end of the 5th? I'm pretty certain that Blackwell had some success and stunned Jr. After the 5th. (e.g.When Jr. Was busy chopsing off to Saunders like the fucking prick he is!)
All Sr. Was saying to his fighter was his usual mix of clichés and horseshit between rounds, and then standing back to admire his work for 10 seconds. Anything he said of any relevance is purely coincidental , HE IS NOT THE MESSIAH!
Finally, if Sr. Is some sort of soothsayer, does that mean Jr. Is a brutal murderer because he didn't want to listen to the Great one and virtually told him to Shut up one time?
Even between the last 2 rounds, you could hear Ronnie Davis saying to Jr. "Do it your way", trying to calm Jr. Down because he was getting fucked off with what the Messiah was saying.
It's funny how these things don't get quoted after the event, but then again they're not sensational enough are they?
