Default How to strengthen weak hands

My hands cannot absorb the impact every time I punch the bag. I know I'm lightweight(but tall) but I want to use a heavy bag to punch on, so I can punch on heavy weight kids. But how do I strenghten my hands up without changing bags? Will they grow stronger by themselves?

what part of your hands cant absorb the punishment? I've got some compressed bones in my hand, not too much i can do in that area, but some things can be improved.

Finger tip pushups sarting on your knees then go to toes then alternate fingers as the strength builds up .
    Grips maybe?
Curl fingers in against weight or elastic.
The best thing would be to do an iron palm training course. You would have to go and see your local Chinese kung fu Master for that though ,most would know how.

Are you tightening your fist so that no even a sceric of air could enter it when you hit hard?
Do you go for too long on the heavy bag and get sloppy?
Both these will cause damage. The latter usually to the wrists though.

    I can explain it.
But I cant understand it for you.

To have strong hands you need strong wrists. Try pushups on the flat bit between your knuckles

I'll be danged. I was about to post a topic on this when I saw that this one had been brought back up.

Now I can hit it hard with the gloves on, but not without the gloves. I kind of want to be able to punch it hard without the gloves so I'll know in a real life situation I can hit someone's face or head without my wrist bending. Should I try wrist curls as well as pushups on my knuckles?

hand grips (the name-brand ones) can help alot, but before you use them, warm-up your hands so you won't get any cramps along the way, I got cramps, but after awhile, i stretched out my hands and drunk alot of milk, which helps build strong bones all over the body, especially your hand bones. after that, your hands will feel fine.

Punching that heavy bag is hard as your hands are not use to doing it, by continuing to punch the bag your hands will get better and you will be able to punch the bag better, switch to a lighter one if you boxing suffers ie not just because it hurts. Boxing is skill based and no matter how hard your hands are you will get schooled by some one with a higher skill and fitness.

Use gloves until you can safely box a heavy bag. You really dont want to be breaking knuckles, hand wraps are optional

Even professionals will use gloves, and only some one tapping or useless would box a hard heavy bag for more than a round.

Street fights are BS and very short, remember eye gouge and kick them in the balls
