Both fighters are over-protected. But Garcia has the better resume. After Porter all Thurman has is Diego Chaves who picked up the fight on a short notice. Both fighters are technically sound and have good punching technique, so in terms of skill they are equally matched. Though, I think Garcia ends up winning if they both end up fighting.

At least Thurman is coming off a REAL fight against Shawn Porter.
Garcia hasn't had a real fight in over 3 years, since he fought Lucas Matthysse! Since then, it's been all tune-ups, or what he thought were going to be tune ups, because I know he struggled with a few of them lol!
I wouldn't call Guerrero Pauli and perterson all tune ups just my opinion. That's all solid opponents in last 18months wouldn't even argue with anyone who wanted to call them world class. Last nights fight was a tune up but that's fine he's been out almost a year and wanted a few real rounds before Thurman
Garcia may have a better CV overall because of what he achieved at light welter but Thurman has the done better at Welterweight and more importantly beat Garcia with ease.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Garcia has the better resume for sure. I feel like he usually pulls out the win too so I'm going to pick him to win. Garcia has a problem with fighters who pressure him and Thurman is a one punch at a time kind of fighter. Garcia will be able to time him.
I am the first one to say that Garcia has been fighting bums lately but he has had some decent fights. The one fight that he doesn't get enough credit for is Herrera. Herrera is a good boxer and basically all his losses have been controversial.
I guarantee you Thurman beats Garcia.

It is hard to give him credit for what was arguably a robbery vs Herrera though.
Easy to forget these two were born in the same year when you look at it. After the first year both of these guys regularly rode hbo undercards and ppvs but it was Garcia who progressed against some known scalps and had his career defining fights while Thurman is still plodding along waiting for his. Then again you can say Garcia has regressed in competition and tip toed his way into the division. Hope this March date sticks as it's an outstanding match. Can see Thurman playing the boxer but cannot shake the vision of Soto Karass rocking him across the ring badly or being hurt badly in the body by a fossilized Collazo. Fully expect Garcia to hurt him in the body also.
Garcia has the better CV but Thurman is the better fighter. This is the fight Thurman wants, not the fight Garcia wants. I think Thurman is overrated but still far better than Garcia.
Neither one wants any of Spence.
Think both are a bit overrated. Garcia is lucky to to be undefeated after a couple of close/disputed wins, and Thurman ha all he could handle with Porter and hasn't looked that great since raising his level of competition. That being said, this will be an interesting fight if/when it happens. Thurman is the bigger man and seems to have a little more power and athleticism/speed than Garcia. Danny is the more fundamentally sound fighter from what I've seen, and is "that guy" who fights up or down to his level of competition. Not ready to make my pick, but leaning towards Thurman due to his natural size and speed advantage.
Agree that Spence beats both.
[QUOTE=g3org3;1404673]At one point they were, and I'll admit Peterson is probably a step above that. But Guerrero and Paulie were WELL past their primes. Paulie was coming off a year and a half retirement after being brutalized by Porter. Guerrero had been used up by Floyd and Thurman, and had just BARELY squeaked by an unknown Aaron Martinez where he was almost knocked out by a guy with 4 KOs in 24 fights.
Brook only wants it as a last resort. I mean, he would even rather face completely irrelevant Khan.(and has said so, would rather fight Canelo, Cotto, Pacman, Khan) So it's not like Brook is searching to prove himself . Brook wants to hold onto his belt if he can't get paydays to help get paydays later.
