    Default R.I.P Lou Duva

The colourful WHITE WALRUS FACED manager and promoter Lou Duva has passed of natural causes aged 94.
I remember at the end of a round between Vinny Pazienza and Roger Mayweather ( 1988 WBC Super Lightweight ) , Lou took exception to an after the bell shot by Roger Mayweather at the end of the fight , he lunged at Mayweather so The Black Mamba chinned and floored Lou cutting his eye.
Characters like Lou are always missed.
He had some great fighters Evander - Mike McCallum - Sweet Pea - Meldrick Taylor - Vinny Paz etc.

    R.I.P.

    What a character! Very passionate.

Remember he said he told Meldrick Taylor to stay away from JCC in the last round when in actual fact he told him he needed the round.

He had some good fighters and his family were involved in boxing.

    Rest in Peace.

Lou Duva contributed a lot to the sport of boxing, first as a boxer, then as a trainer, and then as a promoter.

A legend that did contribute to shape the sport as we know it now. 94 years, that's the hell of a run, I hope you're in peace wherever you are, old man.

Duva was on the sleeve passion and live fire at what he did and for his fighters. Zero filter but also knew showmanship and where the cameras were . One of the greats. Rest at ease Lou.

Sad Loss, i'll always remember him for two huge and historic events - pretty much the first things i thought of when i heard he'd passed.

After seeing him on television and reading about him in ring magazine I couldn't believe how gentlemanly and well spoken he was in person. We were in a jewelry store where I used to work that specialized in pearls and Kathy Duva was among the group he was with, He was friendly and when I talked boxing he had kind words for his fighters and their opponents. he was every bit a gentleman and from those I spoke that were in contact with him felt the same way too. He will be missed.
