Default Gervonta Davis reveals he will be in the co-main event for Mayweather v McGregor

What a HUGE platform to be fighting on, Davis is easily one of favourite fighters at the moment with a dynamite left hand and loves to attack.

Really surprised the Salido fight isn't done. Suggests his wrist isn't healing as he expected and he can't make the date.

Tevin Farmer is out there calling for the fight. I'd love to see that but I don't think it would showcase him as this platform is intended.

Eager to see who the opponent is because that's all that really matters. I imagine they'll have someone locked in for the press conferences so time is short.

I assumed he would. He will be mayweathers cash cow soon enough. Smart business.

They will match him up with a formidable opponent that still makes him look good. Im not sure who it will be but I'm guessing it won't be anybody too great.

So Davis comes in fat and is stripped on the scale for a gimme showcase. In the back of my mind I'm really hoping this kid doesn't turn out to be another coming of Yuriorkis Gamboa with this kind of approach.

Sad, his talent is tremendous but he doesn't seem to have the head for this life.

He is another Broner. Unfortunate. Talent only brings you so far. As we have seen over and over, you have to have your head on straight.

His team (TMT) shamelessy lied their arses off shouting about him as the "youngest world champ" yet he can't even be bothered to make weight in his first defence? Deary, deary me.

Why pick such a useless opponent (watch this guys highlights on youtube, he's getting stretched inside 3 minutes unless carried to the 2nd round) if Davis would be so lacking in motivation?

I was thinking the Broner comparison too.

Didn't Tevin Farmer get shot in the hand recently? Not long after they had their recent "little chat". I might be imagining.
Such a shame this is. Just goes to show how much a World title is valued.

Yeah, but it was at a kids birthday party. Everyone knew everyone. It isn't like Gervonta had anything to do with that. But he did make a comment on social media about Tevin needing to move different which was in poor taste. I'm quickly turning against this kid. From the crap he says to choice of opponent to not making weight. It's all bad.

I didn't mean it was anything to do with Davis, I meant it's why he couldn't fight him.
Gotta say , when I was writing it , I thought it could be misconstrued.

He had already turned it down by the time he was shot. His promoter was suggesting it can be built to be a headliner in Philly/NY/Baltimore.

The whole situation is disappointing. I like the idea of a Davis/Farmer fight. But it is nothing to build to, it's a fight you take when there aren't better options. This reminds me of waiting for GGG/Geale. Like, really, Geale is the carrot at the end of the stick, Geale? Same here, it's not THAT interesting.

Two peas in a pod really. At least as far as half developed and massively hyped while flaws glared. But I lean more Gamboa in the Davis style this early, he's almost as reckless but entertaining..save for the early KD's Gamboa took . Broner at the very least is more composed in a fight. All three are clearly definitions of guys fast tracked to belts and huge push and ultimately proved not willing or able to sustain it.

Just don't get what Davis is thinking or if he's already decided to go up weight. But it's massive that Mayweather went to bat for him literally calling him the next Mayweather with all the skill and ability etc, then he just half asses it and chooses not to make what's contracted. Say what we want about Floyd but from everything I've seen of him coming up he constantly busted his arse in preparation.
