I also think the injuries played a big part. Pity they couldn't agree on weight for Cotto, would have been fun to watch. He was a pleasure to watch and a marvel at times. Apart from Floyd he was never really beaten decisively. A great fighter and a definite first ballot hall of famer.
Marquez was known for pricing himself out of big fights
I'm glad the Cotto fight didn't happen because it would've been brutal
You're talking about a former featherweight champion in his mid 40s
Fighting a former middleweight champion in his mid 30s.... Marquez gets stopped.
The issue for this fight was the weight, Cotto refused to come down to 148 for the former featherweight. I think at a fair weight and a few years back it's a good fight.
    I don't blame him, he hasn't fought below 154 since 2009
Marquez should've fought Garcia, Broner or Khan
And Cotto should fight Lara, Charlo or Andrade.

A great boxer and a great gentleman. Plenty deserved, just as his place in the HAF of boxing.

I don't see Cotto fighting those guys at this stage. Marquez should have fought Pac again.

Great fighter and brilliant to watch which are not always the same thing. Planking Pac is no mean feat and while his career was much more than that it's not a bad way to put a full stop on a controversial but compelling series.

Enjoy your retirement champ and pass some of that magic on if you can.

I do think he got lucky against Barrera. That knock down should have been scored and Barrera was up haven taken the early rounds outboxing Marquez. Bad round for Barrera but excellent KD.
