Loma vs Rigo finalized Dec 9th

The size difference creates a much bigger punching power differential. Rigo wasn’t able to keep Loma off of him because he just didn’t have the power. If they were the same weight, those punches would have been much more effective and made Loma think twice before coming in.

The other side of it is that Loma could pressure him much easier and hurt him easier. It is also harder to keep someone off of you who is bigger. The first round I think showed how the fight would have more looked like without a size advantage.

They were asking Mikey Garcia about the fight and he mentioned that Rigo might even be older than 37, maybe even 40. I think I had read that before somewhere and it's probably easy to fake your age coming from Cuba to make a new start in the US.

Rigo was pretty ancient, hugely inactive and jumping two weight divisions. He may have pulled it off against someone not as technically gifted as Loma, but he just had no answers to him.

The press are raving about Loma's performance, and calling him the Second Coming of Ali. I actually was not that impressed. He did what he had to do against a shell of s fighter. He dwarfed Rigo, had faster hands and has clearly progressed a 'pro' style much more than Rigondeaux.

I'd go along with that in principle. The problem I see is that Loma wasn't exactly putting a lot of stink on his punches and Rigo didn't throw any. Rigo has previously had no issue with punching back against guys that could hurt him, he was on his arse twice (debatable if you like) against Amagasa and that fucker was nearly six foot.

Depends who you are fighting. He may have felt the power of Loma and understood that Loma was too good of a fighter to overcome that size difference.

Let him face the Mikey Garcias and Gervonta Davises of the world, even moving up slightly higher to fight Crawford. Then we can begin chiseling the statue.

I'd like to see a unification with Berchelt or a fight with Linares at 135. Don't see the Garcia fight happening anytime soon.

Don't really no what more Loma could have done to be honest. The guy can turn on a sixpence and throw any punch as a multiple and just hit a defensive master at will for 6 rounds. He makes a very good fighter look less than average and still people are not impressed. Not his fault who is opposite him in the ring, his job is to solve that conundrum and jump that hurdle and he does it again and again. Garcia? Linares? bring them on. Loma makes them look very ordinary and they are not. The guy is special. Yes the American commentators may over hype fighters (it what they do) , but in this case a lot of it is justified. Great fighter.
