Default GGG, Canelo, Irma, and Maria

No, it's not a porn foursome.

It's just a reflection of mine over the last week and a half.

Irma, of course, was the cause of my having to move a pre-planned getaway weekend outing at a boutique hotel in Old San Juan, to celebrate the wife's birthday. Originally planned for the weekend of Sept 9-10, Hurricane Irma brushed by us on Sept 6th, knocking out power to a considerable part of the island. So we moved it to this past weekend.

I thought I would be able to sneak off and watch the GGG-Canelo fight, but alas it wasn't meant to be. I didn't watch it. First thing Sunday morning I picked up my phone and saw this on the news:

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sport...ion/674701001/

Wow, imagine that. The ringside seats aren't even cold yet, and there's already a story about how Adelaide Byrd won't be facing formal sanctions for her score. That's how shitty her score obviously was. Another huge fight..... another inexplicable choice of judges. Such is boxing. There was even a screaming match online between Teddy Atlas and Stephen A. Smith that was on ESPNNews, but apparently the video is no longer available. Too bad. I was able to see it, but couldn't post it now. Teddy Atlas losing it BIG TIME over the corruption in boxing, whereas Smith was only going so far as saying that Byrd should be banned from boxing, but that boxing itself isn't corrupt.

Ahhhh.... business as usual. All of a sudden, missing the fight didn't seem so bad after all. Let's see...... spend some quality time with the wife celebrating her birthday..... or sneaking off to watch a fight only to get pissed off at a result that was only too predictable, like clockwork. Hmmmm..... I think I'll take Door Number One, Wayne!!

Haven't watched the fight yet, so obviously there's not much I can contribute. But I've already heard much about it, sort of like the bad movie that everyone goes to see before you, and then tells you the ending sucks. I'll watch it anyway, just for grins. But I get the gist of it. Close fight where Canelo does better than expected, but a clear win for Golovkin. BUT..... the cards come in and..... SUR-FUCKING-PRISE!!!!! It's a draw, with Adelaide Byrd giving GGG two whole rounds.

I hope no one on here was actually surprised.

Another good fight, followed by another black eye for boxing. So many millions being made by fighters... and still with this antiquated, corrupt (I agree with Teddy), inept, inexcusable system of picking judges and not holding them accountable for their farcical scoring.

In retrospect, a good weekend for me. Infinity pool with a view of Old San Juan and the cruise ship harbor..... some nice people to talk to over a beer..... and some quality time with the wife. The daughters even came over and shared some good quality time with us.

    Oh..... and Maria?

Yeah, well....... this may one of my last posts in awhile. Irma's eye came within 30 miles of the beach town where I live. But Maria is projected as another major hurricane (Category 4), with the eye going right through the island diagonally. Kind of another Georges (199. Today I've been busy boarding up my own house and my mother's. Tomorrow I got a few more people to help board up and get ready for this major hit, which is supposed to hit early Wednesday morning.

Silver Lining Department: At least Maria won't be bothering St. Martin, which was leveled by Irma and will probably take years to recover.

    Wish me luck, guys.

Stay safe and if you get a chance watch the fight. Despite the shitty card it was a great performance from both guys.

Thanks Beanz. Can't complain too much when I think of those poor souls in St. Martin, Barbuda, and even the Florida Keys who were obliterated by Irma. Thank heavens I hadn't taken all the storm shutters off my house (just some of the easy ones) after Irma..... just for this very type of eventuality. Now it looks like a direct hit on the island. I only hope for no deaths, as is usually the case when something like this happens. It might be weeks before power is restored, since the power authority was still struggling to put things back together after Irma.

I'm gonna try and watch the fight before Wednesday, though. Otherwise it might be the New Year before I get to watch it.

I thought you had seen the fight and went on a mad mission to kill Byrd. That would have made a great movie.

Glad everything went well and you have some perspective. Boxing is boxing which you have no control and will deal with itself.

Hi guys. A last minute post from my phone. Looks like Maria's eye is projected to pass over the east part of Puerto Rico... right where I live. It's now a monster Cat 5, and admittedly I'm a bit nervous. Battened down as much as I could, but a Cat 5 will level everything in its path. It's about 9 pm local time, and the eye should be upon us by the early morning hours. Exhausted from helping out family and neighbors with their preparations, but I won't be sleeping a wink.

My computer was giving me phishing warnings when I tried the Saddo site, but was able to access through my phone.

Don't know how long before I can hook up again, but you all take care, and I'll catch you all later down the road.

Yes that warning has been reported and we are looking into it. We believe it is the Russians again or Ross.
