Exclamation Gennady Golovkin vs Miguel Cotto

Gennady Golovkin wants to get back inside the ring in December
To defend his middleweight titles rather than sit and wait until May of 2018
To face Saul Alvarez. One option for Golovkin’s December fight is Miguel Cotto
He’s supposed to be retiring after December, and he’s looking for a big fight...

Negative article because his would be a big fight. It would likely take place in Madison Square Garden. Yoshihiro Kamegai would actually be perfect preparation as he was a naturally larger man who just kept coming forward and provided nonstop pressure (albeit with inferior offense) I know people will write Cotto off because of his size but he is a world class fighter and he would give GGG issues for as long as he holds up under the pressure. Another option would be Jacobs but I think we all know that GGG wouldn’t risk a rematch with Alvarez fighting Jacobs in December.

GGG should just fight Saunders and collect the other title which stops Canelo doing anything at middleweight.

Cotto would be a second option but no catchweight.

Canelo fighting twice a year is a joke.

Sad that Cotto is retiring, hell of a career....I'd like to see him go out a winner, but if he fights GGG that ain't happening.

GGG should fight Jacobs or Saunders

Saunders is boring and nobody cares about the WBO title. Canelo has already won the WBC belt along with the lineal championship at 160. If GGG is too small to meet Ward at 168 then he can surely lose a few pounds and meet Cotto at 158 or whatever weight Cotto decides (he's the draw)

Cotto is not the draw or A side fighter no longer. I respect Cotto but he avoided GGG just as Canelo did when they stutter at interviews saying how they would fight GGG but never did. Canelo was put in a corner and had to fight.

Cotto should fight someone at light middle and defend his title and retire.

Cotto has taken a lot of punishment in career.

He needs to edge away into retirement perhaps facing Kell Brook in the U.K for a big payday.

He will never fight GGG and will only get more of a hiding from Canelo in the rematch.

@imp he's not coming to the UK, he'll probably close out his career in New York. It could be Brook or Khan but I think it's most likely going to be a rubber match with Margarito. He beats all three for me.

@Master the problem is there are no names at 154. Guys like Lara, Andrade and Charlo are all high risk and low reward so he'll be hoping somebody from 147 moves up (Khan, Brook, Garcia) if not we'll likely get a third fight with Margarito.
