Default Kell Brook v Sergey Rabchenko

Kell Brook to return in March at light-middleweight.

Former IBF world welterweight champion Kell Brook will make his debut at light-middleweight against Sergey Rabchenko in Sheffield on 3 March.

Briton Brook, 31, has not fought since losing his world title and breaking his left eye socket against Errol Spence Jr in May.

Belarus' Rabchenko, 31, has won 29 and lost two of his 31 fights, while Brook has a 36-2 record from 38 bouts.

"My focus is on becoming a two-weight two-time world champion," said Brook.

"Rabchenko is a dangerous fight for the return but I want to jump straight back in at world level and I think our styles will gel for an electric fight.

"I'm already deep in camp and I can't wait to feel the atmosphere again in my home town."

Brook broke his right eye socket in the defeat by Gennady Golovkin in September 2016.

Rabchenko, who is ranked number seven with the WBC, beat Brook's former stablemate Ryan Rhodes to win the European title in 2012.

"I'm really looking forward to this fight with Kell Brook and it's going to be a war," said Rabchenko.

"This is a high-profile fight in the division that has always been mine, and the winner will go on and challenge for the world title. It's a must-win fight for both of us."

The fight, which will be held at Sheffield Arena, represents a step up in weight for Brook, from the 147lb welterweight division to 154lb at light-middleweight.

That is what Eddie Hearn said but then he did put him in there with Triple G in the first place.

That would explain why Fensters post's finally understand what I have been saying all these years.

Gamal Yafai to fight Gavin McDonnell for WBC International super-bantamweight title

Gamal Yafai will attempt to defend his WBC International super-bantamweight title against fellow Briton Gavin McDonnell in Sheffield on 3 March.

The fight is on the undercard of Kell Brook's light-middleweight bout against Sergey Rabchenko at Sheffield Arena.

Yafai, 26, has won all 13 of his fights, while 31-year-old McDonnell has won 18 and lost one of his 21 bouts.

"I know I'm good enough for the big nights and this is certainly a big fight," said Yafai.

"It's experience against youth, but I bring something different to the table than what he's seen."

McDonnell lost on points to Mexican Rey Vargas when they met for the vacant WBC super-bantamweight title in Hull in February.

McDonnell said: "These domestic dust-ups are the type of fights which get the bit between your teeth."

Brook has had two broken eye sockets in his last two fights I think its stupid to carry on fighting
you are risking your eye sight he should have enough money to live in comfort.

If he can make a bit more then it is human nature to try.

Decent opponent to test the waters and skill at 154 I suppose. Brook should win wide here, maybe even a late stoppage.
