    Default Daigo Higa

I thought there was a thread on this guy but couldn't find it.

Current WBC Flyweight Champion. Only 22 years old.

14-0 (14 KOs), the only other champion who can claim a perfect record is AJ.

Won the title over the highly capable Juan Hernandez Navarrete in May 2017 with a 6th round stoppage.

Higa defends his title for the 2nd time this weekend, against possibly his toughest most experienced opponent to date; Moises Fuentes 25-4-1 (14 KOs).

A clash against IBF titleholder Donnie Nietes who is set to make his HBO debut on the SuperFly 2 undercard, or a unification with Sho Kimura 16-1-2 (9 KOs) could be just around the corner for the little tank.

Fuentes holds a huge height advantage for this fight:

Will check him out, Fenster and you make an effort to highlight these gems.

Fuentes played the old let yourself get counted out then complain trick there. Vicious body shot. Little guys will never get get the appreciation from the majority, especially Japanese fighters, but imagine how popular he'd be if a welter+? Vicious sparko merchant.

I think Andrew Selby is the WBC no.1, he would tower over Higa too, and although can't punch has his own awkward style/toughness.

Important factor is the guys from around the world get some mention.

I must also say my original thought, after thinking about it I wrote up a post about Higa but didn't submit it. So my bad for misinformation

Mauricio Sulaimán of the wbc and personal supporter of a juiced up Nery saying he'll personally scrutinize 'the case' for rematch. Fuentas spit his own mouthpiece and set it on the canvas before getting up ffs. Higa looks like is a seriously strong fighter for weight. Vicious body work.

It was all but over. Tried to buy some extra time by spitting it the mouth piece, he could have got hurt had it continued.

So Higa misses weight, looks awful but fight is allowed to go forth. Loses title in the scales. Higa's corner throws in the towel in the 9th with Rosales ahead on 2 cards, the 3rd is even.

Higa should have withdrawn or not been allowed to fight. He has to move to 115 now, another nice addition to the division.

Also looks good for Selby who already holds a win over Rosales and is the #1 contender to Rosales' new WBC belt.

That was a hell of an upset (Rosales around a 10/1 shot), even though with hindsight the weight clearly killed Higa and Rosales was being underestimated. Kal Yafai beat Rosales too early in their careers (he tweeted congrats to Rosales, obviously gave him a little boost), however, it really was an eye-opener for Selby's win over him, I made the point in this thread Selby's length and awkwardness might cause Higa problems.

Incidentally this show (Murata headlining against Blandamura) got a whopping 17 million viewers on Japanese TV. 17 million!!! Numbers that the US/UK will never come close to seeing again, and yet we have arrogant fans on here that demand these fighters "prove" themselves in the States or make a name for themselves in the UK.

Was this the espn card that aired Sunday? Absolutely missed everything and surprised Higa lost like that. I knew he blew the weight and sounds like he set himself up for downfall.
