India is extremely racist towards non-indians my own Indian students have told me that. I have absolutely no chance to buy any property in India or get any job offers in India it is very very rare. Also I went through Cox & Kings here in New York City who is handling all of the Visa applications now for the country of India. Cox & Kings makes it so difficult to fill out the application that I with a master's degree could barely way through over 14 pages of visa application questions written in what I would call a very substandard English which contains many contradictions in the meaning of the sentences when you go to answer questions about your purpose of going and none of the situations actually match a mirror tourist kind of thing. Many of those things are rejected 210 US dollars!!!!!

It's hardly comparable though Master. Don't be an apologist for unfair policies towards countries full of white people. Walrus cannot build his church in Saudi Arabia and I cannot buy a house in India. Yet millions of Indians and Middle Easterns own property and exercise their religious rights in the West. Then Trump should sort that out the church issue with Saudi Arabia when he is negotiating arms deals with their royal family.

At University we rented a home and the Indian chap was making an absolute fortune from us who had all taken on loans to pay our rental costs. Yet, I cannot go to India and behave like this. It's hardly racism, it is a home truth and a valid comparison and has nothing to do with Donald Trump. 4 bedrooms cost us something like 800 pounds a month between us and you are talking a long time ago. I cannot remember exactly, but it was a lot. Now after years of immigration property prices are beyond reach for most and to go to Uni the debt levels are much higher. It is opportunism. Even if you could buy a house in India, you couldn't make the same in rent you can in the UK. How many properties are owned by foreigners in the UK? It is one reason prices are so high. Where can a Brit buy? He can move to China and marry a Chinese person and he is not even entitled to work. He can go to India and not be allowed to buy property. Foreigners going to the UK have it made.

Multi millionaires foreigners buying property here is a problem no matter their race/nationality.

I bring up race because we are making direct comparisons between India and the UK and the reality is there are a lot of Indian people with property in the UK and none who own property in India. That seems like an unfair relationship. That's why I brought up China too, it goes beyond race and they too have their China towns everywhere, yet you marry one of their women and you are denied the opportunity to work. It's kind of off.

I hear u miles. We have a bunch of those from India here in the US. They love to buy gas stations and tobacco stores. Same with Pakistan’s immigrants. They are very hard workers and I know a few personally and they bought beautiful homes and ended up with three or four stores. They came here legally so no issue. If we allow that it should go both ways. I know it’s not the people running the stores here it’s the government but it don’t seem right

My wife is Indian yes. Her paternal and maternal grandparents all came from India. However my wife was born in Guyana in South America for your information the only English speaking country in the entire South America. We have been to India a couple of times but she no longer has any relatives that she knows there. She is eligible for a PIO card which stands for person of indian-origin.

Anyway, back to the railways ......

I totally agree that the UK railways are totally shit. They are amongst the worst, and most expensive in the world. It's almost as if they try on purpose to annoy their customers as much as possible.

Having said that, I clearly remember British Rail, and they were just as bad. Anybody who says otherwise either wasn't around or is looking back with a somewhat selective memory. BR were totally useless, run by the unions for the benefit of members gold plated pensions. There was at least 20 years when absolutely nothing was invested in the railways, which is one of the reasons they are so expensive now as we are playing catch up.

The railways are truly shit today, but at least billions and billions of taxpayers money isn't being pumped into them and lost each year. We can waste it in the NHS instead

Billions are wasted on private train companies some of which are foreign owned and used to subsidise services in their own countries. That is just perverse.
