So Warren has "Promised" Frampton his dream stadium fight in August which is great news for the Jackal and well deserved, personally i'd love to see him face Valdez if it can be made
Carl Frampton will box at Windsor Park in August, according to promoter Frank Warren. But who will he face?
Frampton secured the WBO Interim World Featherweight title with victory over Nonito Donaire at Belfast's SSE Arena on Saturday evening. He is now the mandatory fight for champ Óscar Valdez.
However, that's a bout that may never happen with Valdez rumoured to be moving up in weight. If that happens, Frampton would be automatically crowned as WBO World Featherweight champion.
In that case, Frampton would likely turn his sights to a unification bout. Lee Selby has made his desire to fight Frampton known. He takes on Josh Warrington next month in the defence of his IBF crown.
And then, of course, there is a certain Leo Santa Cruz, the WBA Super Featherweight title-holder who beat Frampton in January 2017.
The next port of call will be assessing WBO champ Valdez' broken jaw, sustained during his successful title defence against Scott Quigg last month, and determining whether or not he will be shifting weights.
"I will be writing to the WBO to see what the situation is with Valdez," said promoter Frank Warren.
"Should he be forced to vacate the title then Carl will be elevated to being the champion or we push hard for him to make his mandatory defence against Carl.
"The other option for Carl is the winner of the fight between Selby and Warrington facing him at Windsor Park so we have to wait and see what happens there. The next month will make it a lot clearer about who Carl will be facing at Windsor.
"The main thing is that we are going to deliver him his dream fight at Windsor which we always said we would do and it will be a world title fight," said Warren.
