Ito fought a lot better than Diaz on the inside as well. They're both super tough. Diaz nailed him many times flush, but Ito can sure take a punch.

All credit to Ito, the new champion.
I think we all underestimated Ito, except Fenster. Great pick by him.

Diaz has a bit to work on but both guys increased their status with this fight.
Japanese fighters are always underrated yet their domestic scene is so strong, anyone who wins at title level out there must be handy, that's my rule of thumb.

And it's fairest place in the world for travelling fighters yet most fans/fighters/pundits arrogantly assume their winners are all protected homers.

Ito has been on my radar for awhile, I also thought his loss was debatable. In saying that, his opposition hasn't been outstanding. Their records were similar coming in. I thought it would be a competitive fight. I also thought Ito had moved to 135 and wasn't sure how getting back to 130 would affect him. Some good fights to be made at 130. Some of these belt holders need to start fighting each other.
