*** United Sikhs *** has sought to have Sikh included on the U.S. census as well, arguing that Sikhs "self-identify as an 'ethnic minority'" and believe "that they are more than just a religion".

Male Sikhs generally have "Singh" (Lion) as their middle or last name (not all Singhs are Sikhs), and female Sikhs have "Kaur" (Princess) as their middle or last name.

The British found the warlike Sikhs the most difficult of Indians to conquer, but when the Indian Mutiny came in 1857, the Sikhs sided with the British because they had been treated far worse by the Islamic Mughals.

The Mughals - who ruled Northern India in the 18th century before the British took the area - were actually a Eurasian (Turkic) people (from Central Asia), and their culture was much more advanced than other Indians (for example, they built the Taj Mahal and many other beautiful and impressive structures).

Something extremely cruel about Indian culture is the caste system. People outside the several castes, the untouchables, are to this day considered subhuman.
