Default Will PPV boxing die out in the next few years

With so many new platforms to watch fights are the days of PPV set to die out?
Just saw that Canelo v GGG is $84.99 in the US.
That's an insane amount of money for a fight, around £45 - £50 in proper money.
I'd never pay anywhere near that for a fight.

The hyprocite Eddie Hearn is the one still doing it. He is saying Warren's ppv cards are not worthy and his are. I hope ppv boxing does die before it kills boxing itself.

I pay for very few these days. Can never be arsed staying up for US fights any more anyway. Wilder Fury would obviously make me change my mind on that one.

I don’t think there’s ever been a fight over here they’ve charged more than 19.95 for ?? If it went more than that I doubt you’d get anyone but hard core boxing fans paying for it - though again events like Joshua v Fury would be an exception if it happened. Though over here most would gather in the pub for that. I wouldn’t pay

85 dollars. Jesus. How do our American friends feel about that ? Do casual fans fork out that ? Has the average American on the street heard of both fighters ?? I wonder what percentage of UK people on the street would’ve heard of both these guys ? Bet it would be very low.

Will it die ? Not sure at this stage. Wonder what the age demographic is over here for those that still regularly pay for events

The market is different in the US, Latino's are the biggest buyers of boxing, hence Canelo is the biggest star in the States, and biggest earner outside of Joshua.

All the major PPV events are scheduled for Mexican holiday weekends for a reason. Whereas in Britain the masses go to a boozer for the PPV's, in America they have "fight parties," so a dozen or more bods chipping in to buy an $89/£50 PPV is peanuts.

CutMeMick used to regularly put up pictures of 20-40 friends and relatives all chipping in a couple of dollars for the event.

    Wasn't Mayweather v Pac £25
Or it may have been his exhibition against McGregor

That's the highest I can think of but I could be wrong

Think you right. One of them was 25 quid.

Yes Fenster I remember now cutmemick and his fight parties. Makes sense and the fights are on around 9pm so why not. Imagine being sat at home alone and you have to shell out 84 dollars. Christ

Doing my part here they are dead and buried in this household . I haven't even paid for espn+ yet. These massive 80-100 dollar 1 fight cards..lets be real thats basically what this is..are on borrowed time and geared as much, if not more, to casuals as they are to die hards.

That's what I'm doing! But to be fair to me, "you're not drinking alone if the dogs at home".... Or something like that :S
