    Default Asia Bibi

Damn I think I read about this case when it happened. Clear case of the necessity of speration of church and state. Very sad the poor girl sat in prison for eight years.

    https://www.cnn.com/2018/11/04/asia/...ntl/index.html

Karachi, Pakistan (CNN)The lawyer representing a Pakistani Christian woman acquitted of blasphemy after almost eight years on death row, has fled the country in fear for his life, an associate told CNN on Sunday.

Asia Bibi's acquittal last week prompted violent protests by the Islamist movement Tehreek-e-Labbaik (TLP), and on Friday her lawyer Saiful Malook told CNN he was concerned for his life.
Two days later, an associate who asked not to be named for security reasons, told CNN that Malook had left the country "for Europe."

This is a damn nuclear power doing this stuff.

Was curious as to Bibi's actual "offense". Seems it stems from her somehow "defiling the name of the Prophet Mohammed" over some issue with a bucket of water and some Muslims who didn't want to drink from it.

Wow... no wonder they sentenced her to death.

    Also, according to the article:

"Under Pakistan's penal code, the offense of blasphemy is punishable by death or life imprisonment. Widely criticized by international human rights groups, the law has been used disproportionately against minority religious groups in the country and to go after journalists critical of the Pakistani religious establishment."

Here's a novel idea and something that an organization such as the United Nations ought to take under its wing, since the popular view of the UN nowadays is that it is a useless organization.

The UN should convene and vote to impose sanctions on a country such as Pakistan, in an effort to force it to change its INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS penal code. Time to leave the 19th century, Pakistan.

They can't do that because muslims worldwide, by majority, agree with this medieval nonsense. Western mainstream media were too terrified/coward to show cartoon pictures of the "prophet Muhammad" even after the Charlie Hebdo slaughter.

It is completely and utterly diabolical, through fear of being accused of "racism and offence" they've allowed genuine ignorant, backward criminal attitudes to flourish.

You know... I'd bet that's slowly changing over time. Some of us bemoan immigration here, but one of the unspoken benefits is that other cultures get a close heads-up as to how things are done in other countries. Muslims who successfully assimilate the U.S. culture or in the UK, probably have developed some doubts as to the horrifying reality of the Penal Code, living as we do in the new millennium... even if these thoughts are private. If it were possible to poll all Muslims worldwide now, and compare with a similar poll taken 15 years ago... I'd bet the results would be greatly different.

Even if it's not done now or the near future, I can envision a time when this gets done, and global pressures finally make these troglodyte assholes knuckle under.

In Britain something like 80% of Muslims believe pictures of prophet Mo should be forbidden and a quarter it was justified to kill the journos for printing a cartoon. Over half believe homosexuality should be illegal. The loons and ignorant make the people on here look like hippies.

A number of muslim immigrants I’ve talked to here are pro sharia law in the US. If they are adherents to Islam they say they must be.
