Default Cheeseman going for a world title in 2019

Ted Cheeseman has a target to hit by the end of 2019 – with his sights set on being at least one of the top-ranked super-welterweights in the world. Bermondsey’s crowd-pleasing puncher challenges Sergio Garcia for the European title at Greenwich’s 02 Arena on February 2.

And Cheeseman, 23, shows no signs of stopping his fast-track approach to the top.
Spaniard Garcia has a 28-0 fight ledger. Cheeseman is 15-0. The South Londoner fully expects a victory to propel him closer to a world title shot.

“He has got a number three ranking with the WBC and is also ranked by other world governing bodies,” said Cheeseman. “It will put me right in the mix in looking for a world title shot.

“By the end of the year I either want to be waiting for a world title shot, or have had it.
“It’s not unrealistic to think I could be world champion in 2019.
If I win this fight in February, it is very, very realistic. I’ve still got 10 months of the year left and will be ranked number three by the WBC and probably top five in all the governing bodies.”

Cheeseman won the vacant British belt last time out with a wide unanimous decision over Asinia Byfield in October......

Cheeseman is a local, likable and action packed fighter. Hope he can get a world title that would be amazing for him.

Proper throwback style fighter is the Big Cheese, he loves a tear up and seems to have a solid beard.
Will his heart and fitness alone be enough at the top level?
Not so sure as he's not a naturally gifted fighter, has shit footwork and always ends up square on when he goes for the finish.
I think that's where he'll get found out against the the top guys and will be on the end of boxing lesson.

Completely agree with all of this, I've being saying this all along to one of my mates, I think when he moves up to the elite fighters of the division he will as you say be on the end of a boxing lesson.

Having said that, GO ON THE CHEESE HEAD

I'm gunna enjoy the ride whilst it lasts and I'm gunna be championing him all the way.

Can't post my standard Cheeseman gif as I'm on the bog as I type this but as soon as o fire up my laptop I'll get it on here.

How have cheeseman and eggington never squared off? As long as they can both pass physicals at the mayo clinic, we will see who will be bringing home the bacon. There can only be one breadwinner, the loser will be destined to fight tomato cans. I have a hunch a real champ would eat them for breakfast.
