    Default Boxing Fans Rationalization Theory

I took a cursory look around the Internet and didn't find anything on this... so I'll just throw it out there myself.

    TitoFan's Boxing Fans Rationalization Theory:

"The list of reasons and/or excuses found and/or created by boxing fans to justify a devastating upset loss by a champion grows proportionately (and sometimes exponentially) in accordance to the time elapsed after the fight."

Before continuing, I'll add some relevant facts here for clarification. First... I like Joshua as a heavyweight champion, and definitely think he can come back to regain his championship. (He'll need a serious mental reset, though). Second... I've stated that I don't feel Joshua quit. He was soundly beaten and was in no shape to continue. Plain and simple. Joshua himself has offered no excuses (this one is key to remember as I expand on my theory). In fact, Joshua was very magnanimous in defeat.

    Now to my theory.

The list began slowly, but has picked up steam. As far as I can tell, the following is a current list of excuses as to why Joshua lost to Ruiz (who sadly gets the short end of the stick, because.... according to my theory..... in about a month's time, Ruiz will not have won at all).

Let's see.... we have stuff like....

AJ suffered a concussion in sparring before the fight.
It was the new surroundings. His first time in Madison Square Garden.
He's practicing Muslim and it was the fasting that did him in.
Panic attack in the dressing room.
Lack of steroids in the system.
Something was wrong with Joshua before the fight.

FFS..... if Ruiz hadn't won that fight, he'd probably be the worst heavyweight challenger in history considering how enormously the deck was stacked against Joshua.

Yeah... yeah... this is a boxing forum and of course its purpose is to talk about fights. Just adding a little something to it.

(BTW..... had Ruiz flattened Wilder instead..... would we still have a similar list?)

The last point should really make people think. Is it about what is or about how they feel

Look, I am hardly a Joshua fanboy but something was clearly amiss out there, especially with the pre fight oddness. It just wasn't normal.

By my calculations, by next week it'll be discovered that Joshua had a secret meeting several weeks ago with a long lost distant cousin, who introduced AJ to Ahimsa, a non-violence form of yoga.

The week after that rumors will surface that in the days leading up to the fight, Joshua was abducted by aliens, who as part of their human experiments sapped AJ of his strength.

Which stage of grief are we at then? Denial? Denying that AJ could be beaten by Ruiz....you know, just beaten like AJ was fine and fought dumb and got beat, we're (boxing fans as a whole) denying that just happened?

    So I guess next expect...

    2. Anger - That no good worthless AJ or Ruiz ruined everything!

    3. Bargaining - If AJ could only get the right trainer and be 100% focused

    4. Depression - he could have been great!

    5. Acceptance - Well he is what he is, no changing that.

People are pointing to this as confirmation of a concussion or panic attack, he certainly doesn't look full of confidence and certainly looks fucking nervous or even tired.

If he had lost in the same fashion and there were so many things that just looked wrong or out of place then definitely.

To be honest if Ruiz Flattened Wilder , I wouldn't be over surprised . YES, EVEN BEFORE WHAT I NOW KNOW.
Former Undisputed 4 belt Prediction champion. Still P4P and People’s Champion.

Everyone assumes Wilder has a really weak chin. He has been stopped before in the amateurs, he's been hurt before, he's very lean so lean he looks frail. So no I don't think people would be surprised if he got stopped, but let me ask you this....

If Wilder took the punches from Ruiz and seemingly wasn't phased by them....would you be surprised at that? He took some good shots from Ortiz.
