Walking up to the big old buildings in Denton – you’d never guess it was home to one of the greatest boxing trainers – Billy “The Preacher” Graham, or that a Boxing World Champion was training inside for the fight of his life.
Strolling through Kerry Kayes’s “Betta Bodies’ Gym, muscular guys were working out on the many fitness machines spanning the length of the gym. When I walked through to Billys “place’ – “The Preacher” greeted me and we chatted about iguana’s, of all things! Knowing that Billy was a keen reptile-fan, I was disappointed not to see any pets in the office. More...

SaddoBoxing was at the characterful Rockingham Arms Hotel in Doncaster, England, yesterday for the official press conference previewing the Frank Maloney promoted fightnight "Nowhere to Run! Nowhere to Hide!" in which reigning champion Carl Johanneson and former champion Michael Gomez fight for the British Super Featherweight title at the Doncaster Dome on October 19.
Outside the hotel, a horse-drawn carriage awaited the two fighters for their first "face to face". A Maloney media release had announced the press conference as being an "Explosive Head-to-Head" and they weren't kidding!
As soon as Gomez, 34-7 (24), and Johanneson, 26-3 (18), got near each other in the carriage, sparks flew, and promoter Maloney and Gomez's trainer Bobby Rimmer did well to keep the two fighters from starting their fight 9 days early! More...

Last night, Ricky "Hitman" Hatton put his undefeated record and IBO Light Welterweight title on the line against Jose Luis "El Terrible" Castillo, before the over 13,000 in attendance at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With nearly 10,000 British Hatton fans expected in Las Vegas for the event, it was obvious that most of them made it since the crowd was unmistakably pro Hatton, easily drowning out any support that was present for his opponent.
A rough estimate, based on the crowd response, would put the support at about 3-1 in favor of Hatton. Their raw enthusiasm was contagious, as they came with their own band, complete with its own horn and percussion section, chanted the Ricky Hatton theme song at every opportunity and cheered wildly with every connected blow.
The fight opened with high energy as both fighters met in the center of the ring. From the beginning, most of the action took place in close quarters. Ricky, with the obviously quicker hands, seemed to consistently connect first, while Castillo seemed to be most effective in the clinches, primarily throwing uppercuts while they were tied up. In front of a full capacity crowd of screaming and cheering boxing fans at the Lansing Convention Center in Lansing, Michigan, Colorado lightweight Adrian "Juanito" Mora (17-0-1 9, KO's) folded game but outgunned Anthony Ivy (7-11, 3 KO's) in the second round of their scheduled eight round bout last night.
Mora pressed the action in the opening round, firing combinations at will, set up off of his pristine jab. Ivy, however, weathered the storm and began to stalk Mora only to have to reset and begin again as Mora kept his aggression at bay with his superior movement and stiff counter shots. With just seconds left in the opening round, Mora let his hands go with a sound three-punch combination, followed by a hard left hook to the body that had Ivy wincing in pain. More...
