Boxing Round By Round: Anthony Mundine - Danny Green

By Mitchell Jakins May 20th, 2006 All Round by Round

This past Wednesday saw the much awaited pairing of super middleweights Danny Green and Anthony Mundine, one of the biggest fights to ever grace Australian soil, at the huge Aussie Stadium in Sydney. After a close fight early, Mundine's greater skill began to show and the ex-Rugby League star cruised to a unanimous decision win, taking the WBA number one ranking at super middle in the process. SaddoBoxing presents this exclusive round by round account of the action.

Round one: Green closes the distance quickly, aggressively attacking the body. Mundine so far showing good defence and seems to be still feeling Green out. Green seems to be winning the round because he had been much busier than Mundine. Mundine scores with a big right hand to close out the first but it wasn't enough to steal the round. 10-9 Green.

Round two: Mundine starts throwing the jab and he is lightning quick tonight. Mundine circling, looking for an opportunity to throw his right. Green still being busy but isn't landing too much as Mundine is showing great evasion. Whenever Green goes for a right hand to the face, Mundine counters with a right hand. Mundine now jabbing very well and it seems to be keeping Green at bay. Not much in the last seconds, mainly Mundine making Green miss and countering. 10-9 Mundine. More...

Clinton Woods KO’s Jason DeLisle in Sixth Round Of Rematch!

Sheffield’s Clinton Woods had yet another great night in front of his home town fans this evening at the Ponds Forge Arena, as he successfully defended his IBF light heavyweight title for the second time. In a rematch of a 2004 thriller with Australia’s tough Jason “The Nailer” DeLisle, Woods delighted his loyal following with a devastating sixth round knockout on a Fight Academy promotion televised by Sky Sports. Clinton had predicted a win in seven rounds beforehand yet got the job done one round quicker than he’d anticipated. In doing so he paved the way for huge and attractive fights against the likes of Glen Johnson (Woods’ mandatory challenger), Roy Jones Jnr and, perhaps, the winner of the Antonio Tarver and Bernard Hopkins match. Boxing Round By Round: Dominick Guinn - Audley Harrison

By Adam Matson April 15th, 2006 All Boxing Results, Round by Round

Last night on a Goosen - Tutor card from the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California, two heavyweight boxers saw their career trajectories cross paths. Ex-hot prospect Dominick Guinn climbed back into serious contender status by sending former promising British Olympic Gold Medallist Audley Harrison further into the tailspin started by fellow Englishman Danny Williams. Guinn overcame sizable height, weight and reach disadvantages to post a unanimous decision over a reluctant Harrison as described by this exclusive round by round coverage, only on SaddoBoxing.com!

Round one: The start to this do or die heavyweight contest begins with Dominick Guinn coming right out of the gate and throwing a jab, straight combination that fails to land but succeeds in moving Audley Harrison backwards. Both fighters move to the outside and scout each other out while Harrison, a southpaw, keeps his right hand out in front of him to keep Guinn on the outside. Guinn throws his second combo of the fight a minute into the round, and it's another lunging jab, straight combo, that falls short of Audley's chin. Harrison hasn't thrown anything other than pawing jabs thus far. However, the shorter, stockier Guinn is staying on the outside and has yet to make a real effort to get inside.

True to the recent reputations of both fighters, the first round is proving to be anything but a crowd pleaser. Guinn makes his first effort to get on the inside with thirty seconds left in the round, landing a straight right hand to the body before a clinch. Harrison throws his first meaningful punch of the round right before the bell tolls, a straight left hand that misses over the top. More...

On Friday night, Sanigar Promotions put on a feast of intriguing bouts for boxing fans at the Whitchurch Sports Centre in Bristol, England. The main attraction for the show is the ever impressive, exciting Lee Haskins, defending his Commonwealth Flyweight Title against former IBO Champion Zolile Mbityi, in front of his hometown fans on a show billed as "2 Fast 2 Furious". As well as having an exciting main bout, the Sanigar's undercard had more talent on offer, such as current British and Commonwealth Middleweight Champion Scott Dann who will be contesting a non title fight, Leigh ! Alliss, who will be gunning for a shot at the British Champion if he could come through his very tough Londoner opponent, Peter Haymer, the English Champion. More...

Boxing Round By Round: Sam Soliman - Raul Munoz

By Adam Matson March 4th, 2006 All Boxing Results, Round by Round

One of the top middleweights in the world, Sam Soliman, stepped in as a late replacement to face Raul "El Toro" Munoz, of Topeka, KS as the headlining bout of Goosen - Tutor's Pechanga fight card in Temecula, CA. The Melbourne, Australia man applied his trademark hurricane style which proved to be too much for the Midwestern journeyman to handle. Next up for Slippery Sam may be a challenge to WBC/WBO Middleweight Champion Jermain Taylor next month.

Round one: The first round of this main event middleweight bout starts with Soliman stalking Munoz around the ring with his jab. Soliman is the only one to throw any punches in the early going, throwing them in typical Sam Soliman fashion, throwing punches a mile a minute. Sam is dominating through the first hald of the fight as he is throwing from all angles and has Munoz constantly covering up. Munoz lands his first punches of the fight with only a minute left in the fight, a right hand to Soliman w! hile Soliman is kneeling down. The Aussie looks unaffected by the glancing blows and continues to dance around Munoz and throw from all angles. The round comes to a close and Soliman looks like the same old Soliman, seemingly unaffected by taking this fight by short notice. More...

Boxing Round By Round: Kirk Johnson - Javier Mora

By Adam Matson March 4th, 2006 All Round by Round

On the undercard of Goosen - Tutor's Sam Soliman - Raul Munoz fight card last night from Pechanga Resort and Casino inTemecula, California, former heavyweight world title challenger Kirk Johnson met with Los Angeles area prospect Javier Mora. It was a big step up for Mora but Johnson, of Nova Scotia, Canada was continuing his comeback from a loss to Viatli Klitschko over two years ago.

Round one: The first round in this heavyweight clash starts with Johnson circling Mora from the outskirts of the ring popping the jab. Johnson lands his first big punch of the fight with a lead left uppercut that lands under the jaw of Mora. Johnson follows that up with a jab straight combo that once again connects. Mora recovers though but that isn't stopping Johnson from landing at will, mostly with his straight right hand. With about a minute left in the round Mora lands a left hook that connects flush to Johnson's jaw. Johnson looks unaffected however and continues circling the ring popping the jab. Johnson closes the round with a big straight right hand that lands. More...

Boxing Round By Round: Miguel Figueroa - Larry Mosely

By Adam Matson March 4th, 2006 All Boxing Results, Round by Round

It was a welterweight showdown between Miguel "The Flame" Figueroa and Larry Mosley last night on a Golden Boy East promotion at the New Alhambra in Philadelphia on a ESPN2 Friday Night Fights broadcast. The two waged war for the vacant NABO title but at the end of twelve rounds the ringside officials couldn't pick a winner and a draw was declared.

Round one: The fight starts with both fighters meeting at the center of the ring and firing off jabs. Both fighters look to be of even size and are only sizing each other up in the early going. Mosley lands the first punch of the fight, a straight right hand that was the second punch in a three punch combo. Figueroa recovers and presses Mosley against the ropes and fires off a pair of hooks to the body of Mosley. Mosley circles off the ropes and lands two hooks upstairs. Figueroa comes charging right back though and lands an uppercut through the guard and under the chin of Mosley.&nb! sp; Mosley once again escapes pressure and once again starts firing jabs from the outside before landing a straight right hand on the top of Figueroa's head. The round comes to a close with Mosley landing a left hook to the guard of Figueroa. More...

Hells Kitchen At The Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham, UK.

Matchroom Sport and UK Presents put on a bill headlined by world title prospect Nicky "Cookie" Cook looking to defend his European Featherweight Crown. What transpired was a fierce battle shown live on Sky Sports 1 against the rough and tumble Ukraine fighter Yuri Voronin in front of Cookie's all singing home crowd. The atmosphere as Voronin entered the ring was intimidating to say the least with huge sections of the

crowd turning on him in a traditionally bitter "London Welcome".

Round one: the crowd roar as the bell sounds and Cookie looks sharp as he flies at Voronin with stinging jabs. Cook unleashes some sickening body shots then fires off some excellent jabs that keep Voronin at bay. Voronin is staying low towards the end of the round and looks scared of Cook's power. Boxing Round By Round: Peter Manfredo Jr - Scott Pemberton

By Adam Matson February 14th, 2006 All Boxing Results, Round by Round

After a snowstorm induced postponement of one night, the New England megafight between super middles Peter Manfredo and Scott Pemberton took place tonight on a CES Promotion at the Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island. Pemberton, at age 39, represented the old guard of New England boxing while Manfredo, at 25, was the fresh face of it's future. Would the towering, experienced and big punching Pemberton school Manfredo or would the combination of father time and the youth of "The Pride of Providence" prove too much for "The Sandman"?

Round one: the first begins with both fighters bolting to the center of the ring a! nd pawing at each other with jabs. The size difference between Pemberton and Manfredo is apparent from the beginning, with Pemberton being the bigger of the two. Manfredo is the first to follow up on his jab with an overhand right that lands to the side of Pemberton's head. Manfredo follows that momentum with another jab, followed by a right hook that finds it's target. Manfredo is pushing the pace of the fight so far and has proved able to get inside and land his straight right. With twenty seconds left in the round, Manfredo lands another straight right hand that sends Pemberton stumbling back to the ropes. Manfredo lands one more right hand in the closing seconds in what was a dominant round for Manfredo. More...

Both fighters are feeling each other out for the first minute without throwing any punches. Castillo throws the first punch of the night halfway through the round by landing a jab and rushing Reyes with a left hook that goes over Reyes' head. The pace is slowed after that, as Reyes looks content on keeping the fight on the outside. With about a minute left in the round, Castillo lands a lead left hook to the side of Reyes' head. Neither fighter looks eager to exchange thus far, but Castillo is pressing along with the left hook occasionally but hasn't landed yet. Castillo closes the round with a left hook to the body of Reyes. More...

The main event of the night on Fight Academy's card from Bracknell, England last night was the European Cruiserweight Title bout between Champion Alexander Gurov of the Ukraine and challenger David Haye from the Bermondsey section of London. The first thing noticed about the "Hayemaker" as he climbed through the ropes was his ripped physical appearance and a look of thunder across his face. To say that he was in the zone would be an understatement. More...

Ringside Boxing Report: Emanuel Nwodo - John Douglas

By Keith McMenamin December 7th, 2005 All Boxing Results, Ringside Boxing, Round by Round

Once again it was fight night in Philly last Friday night as Promoter Veronca L. Michael returned to the Legendary Blue Horizon to host the yearly Children’s Holiday show to benefit kids in need. This show also benefited youngsters Max Alexander and Steve Upshur Chambers who saw their stock rise with decision victories. Also on the card were former IBF Cruiserweight Champion Imamu Mayfield and the kids from the Harrowgate Boxing Club while Emanuel Nwodo pleased the bloodthirsty crowd with a fourth round knockout. Missing from the action was top fifty heavyweight contender Eddie Chambers whose bout was canceled at the last minute due to a case of bronchitis.

In the main event, cruiserweight Emanuel Nwodo of Baltimore, MD beat up Brooklyn NY's John Douglas like he stole his Christmas present. I have to give Douglas credit; he did not run or hide and peeled himself off the mat every time he was floored. He even had the audacity to try to mix it up with Nwodo, a strategy that left him seconds away from being on his back at all times. More...

Boxing Round by Round: Jermain Taylor - Bernard Hopkins II

By Adam Matson December 4th, 2005 All Round by Round

Old master Bernard Hopkins' second try to defeat young gun and now middleweight kingpin Jermain Taylor ended much the same as the first, a close decision loss for "The Executioner". While the jury is still out on whether or not Hopkins will retire or keep trying to win his former belts back but Taylor should at this point be able to move on and face the winner of next weekend's Winky Wright - Sam Soliman IBF title fight

Round One: The highly anticipated rematch of the top two middleweights in the world begins with both fighters meeting in the center of the ring with Hopkins charging in early and Taylor pummeling Hopkins on th back of the head with his right hand, an intense start to a high drama rematch. Jay Nady warns Taylor about punching in the back of the head and the fight's order is restored. Hopkins, after the initial charge ahead, starts fighting like the Bernard Hopkins boxing fans are used to seeing, staying on the outside and looking for openings without throwing anything. Taylor isn't to active either, only throwing a left hook that went over Hopkins' head with about 10 seconds left. Both were inactive that round. More...

Ringside Boxing Report: Yusef Mack - Christian Cruz

By Keith McMenamin November 16th, 2005 All Boxing Results, Ringside Boxing, Round by Round

Yusef Mack dominates Christian Cruz to retain the USBA Super Middleweight and UBA Light Heavyweight Titles!

Last Thursday in Philadelphia, Shuler Promotions put on a show from that city's First District Plaza with the main attraction being undefeated, rising contender Yusef Mack. The local man was hoping to stay busy after a proposed bout with ex-WBC Middleweight Champion Robin Reid fell through. In a pre fight interview with SaddoBoxing, Mack remarked “they flew Cruz in from Cali to take my titles, but it’s not happening”. The Philadelphia fighter proved to be true to his word as he thoroughly outclassed Christian Cruz, scoring a sixth round technical knockout to retain the USBA Super Middleweight and UBA Light Heavyweight Titles. Boxing Round By Round: Jeff Lacy - Scott Pemberton

By Adam Matson November 8th, 2005 All Round by Round

Round One: The two power heavy punchers meet in the center of the ring, beginning with Pemberton jabbing early, but not landing anything. Lacy is already displaying defense, something his critics say is the IBF/IBO Champion's biggest flaw. Lacy throws his first punch of the fight thirty seconds in, a big overhand right that fails to land. Pemberton is doing nothing but jabbing thus far, and he is jabbing a lot, putting his fist in Lacy's face every time the stocky Floridian attempts to close the distance between the two fighters. Lacy, who is four inches shorter then Pemberton, lands an overhand right to Pemberton's jaw with a minute left in the round, and is displaying impressive defense, fending off Pemberton's jabs. Pemberton gets very stationary when he tries to follow up on his jab, which is why Lacy landed the big right hand. Other then that, it was a nice round for Pemberton, who succeeded in jabbing and establishing distance. More...

Boxing Round By Round: Rafael Marquez - Silence Mabuza

By Adam Matson November 8th, 2005 All Round by Round

As part of our complete coverage of Saturday's Gary Shaw Productions/Showtime fight card, SaddoBoxing presents this round by round account of the Rafael Marquez - Silence Mabuza IBF/IBO Bantamweight title bout.

Round One: The first round of this highly anticipated bantamweight contest begins with the quick fisted Mabuza fending off Marquez's early jabs. Mabuza isn't throwing many punches in the very early going, opting to box defensively through the first half of the round. After a first minute consisting of nothing but Marquez jabs, Mabuza is nailed with a left hook to the body. Mabuza tries to counter the body blow with a straight right hand but throws over top of Marquez's head and Marquez takes advantage by landing a right uppercut under Mabuza's chin. With about forty seconds left in the round, Marquez lands a lead left hook that buckles Mabuza's knees. Mabuza falls to the canvas but gets back up, and with about ten seconds left in the opening round, Marquez swarms Mabuza and lands a big straight right hand that sends Mabuza stumbling to the ropes, and as Marquez charges towards the South African challenger, Mabuza is saved by the bell. A big round for Marquez. More...

Maloney Promotions put on a superb night at the fights on Friday, staging Martin Power's British Bantamweight title defense against sharply skilled challenger Ian Napa at London's historic fight venue, York Hall. Round One: The first starts slow with not many punches coming from either fighter. Power gets in a good right hand lead to the head of Napa and a nice right to the body. Power wins the round by landing the majority of the very few punches that were thrown.

Boxing Rd By Rd: Scott Harrison V Nedal Hussein

By Matt Cotterell November 5th, 2005 All Round by Round

The headlining bout of Sports Network's Glasgow card was a cracking fight between WBO Featherweight Champion Scott Harrison and top notch Australian visitor Nedal Hussein. Hussein had talked a good game during the build up to this greatly anticipated showdown but it remained to be seen whether or not the former super bantamweight world title challenger could back up his assertions that he would knock the Cambuslang strongman out in six rounds. This would be the sixth defence of the title belt, which Harrison had reclaimed from Manuel Medina just under two years ago. Hussein had gone from super bantam to super feather in under a year, and he entered this bout with the reputation of good puncher who's only two loses had come against genuine quality in the form of Manny Pacquiao and Oscar Larios.

Round One: A decent start from Harrison, getting through with a few shots as Hussein backs up against the ropes. Hussein gave Harrison a glimpse of that feared left hook to the body and again towards the end of the round. Hussein hasn't found his rhythm yet and looks to be somewhat unsettled in the ring.

Round: Harrison 10-9 More...

Boxing Rd By Rd: Amir Khan V Steve Gethin

By Matt Cotterell November 5th, 2005 All Round by Round

One of the undercard attractions on Sports Network's super Scottish bill last night from Glasgow was Olympic Silver Medallist Amir Khan making his third professional outing. The Bolton Wonder met Walsall's Steve Gethin for a scheduled four rounder, looking to continue his fistic matriculation in the paid ranks.

Round One: Amir starts with a flashy left hook ala Roy Jones. Quickfire bursts from Khan, painting the static Gethin with some serious body punches. It's a really good opening round for Khan as the bell gives Gethin some relief.

Round: Khan 10-9 More...

Peltz Boxing Promotions and Joe Hand Promotions collaborated to put on a competitive card at the New Alahambra on the corner of Swanson and Ritner in South Philadelphia this past Friday for a taped recording to be played on Cable TV Giant Comcast's network CN 8. Tom Moran and Kassim Ouma were spotted in the crowd that watched Ireland's

Middleweight Champion Matthew Macklin beat his opponent into submission, Willie Gibbs climb another rung up the middleweight division ladder and local light middle sensation Harry Yorgey earn a hard fought decision against Douglas Esbenshade.

The headlining bout of the evening was a middleweight contest between Willie Gibbs of Philadelphia and Marcos Primera, a Venezuelan based out of Durham, North Carolina. Gibbs, nicknamed "The Gladiator", came to the New Alahambra with the intent of recapturing the contender status he held until his disappointing loss to Daniel Edouard back in August of last year. That road led him to tonight's match up against well traveled veteran Marcos Primera, who has stepped into the ring with the likes of Jermain Taylor and Kingsley Ikeke in the past. More...
