Memorandum by Tim Lueckenhoff, Presidentof the ABC
In order to properly ensure the health, safety and welfare of boxers and to effectively regulate professional boxing in the United States, it is mandatory to ensure that the imposition of a medical suspension by one boxing commission is reciprocally enforced by all other boxing commissions. See, 15 USC §6306(a)(2)(B). In furtherance of this absolute necessity, each boxing commission which is a member of the ABC is directed to adhere to the following procedures when a boxer, suspended in one boxing jurisdiction pending the passage of a particular medical examination, attempts to secure a boxer's license from, and/or box in, another boxing jurisdiction: More...
World Exclusive Interview with European Cruiserweight Champion David Haye, and IBF Light Heavyweight Champion Clinton Woods, who announces that he will fight Roy Jones in Sheffield, England in May!
After David Haye’s stunning forty seven second knockout victory over Alexander Gurov last Friday night on a Fight Academy promoted bill in Bracknell, England, SaddoBoxing's Simon
Shaw managed to grab a few words with the newly minted European Cruiserweight Champion as well as ask IBF Light Heavy Clinton Woods a few questions.
SB: You’ve launched yourself up to number two in the WBA cruiserweight rankings and number five in the WBC after just now crushing Alexander Gurov; that must feel good?
DH: "Something like that, all I know is I’ve certainly jumped up the rankings with that one right hand. That’s exactly what I wanted, a spectacular KO and I got it. I’ve been training hard down in Miami and really pushing myself and it’s paid off." More...
It is perhaps the most talked about potential fight today and almost definitely the most wanted, featuring two undefeated champions both in their physical primes. Ricky Hatton vs. Floyd Mayweather is the fight that everyone is hoping to see as the highlight of next year.
In one corner would be the man who destroyed American legend Arturo Gatti in six devastating rounds. Floyd Mayweather also has such significant
accomplishments under his belt as handily defeating Diego Corrales, who was 33-0-0 at the time and two decisions over Jose Louis Castillo.
Ricky Hatton, on the other hand, has beaten Kostya Tyzu’s original conquer Vince Phillips, as well as Kostya himself for the IBF championship and Carlos Massua for the WBA title. Hatton’s strength lies in his physical conditioning which gives him seemingly unlimited stamina, and the willingness to engage in a brawl verses anyone in the world. He can also box as we all saw against Ben Tackie. More...
The first Saturday of every month belongs to SHOWTIME, and 2006 promises to be no different for America’s No. 1 boxing network, now in its 20th year on the air. Following a spectacular 2005, the network that consistently offers fans the best match ups in boxing begins the New Year with an exciting world championship doubleheader Saturday, Jan. 7, at 9 p.m. ET/PT (delayed on the west coast). In the SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING co-feature, two reigning cruiserweight champions will collide when WBC/WBA champion Jean-Marc Mormeck faces his IBF counterpart, O’Neil “Supernova” Bell, for the undisputed cruiserweight title. The winner of Mormeck-Bell will become the division’s first undisputed champion since Evander Holyfield defeated Carlos DeLeon in 1988 on SHOWTIME, and just the second since the division was created in 1980. In the main event, one of the world’s best pound-for-pound boxers, undisputed welterweight champion Zab “Super” Judah, will put all his belts on the line against WBC mandatory challenger and No. 1 contender Carlos Baldomir.
Question: Jean-Marc, how is your training going?
Mormeck: Everything is fine. I am feeling better and better everyday. I am training in the morning and training in the afternoon and everything is good. More...
With “Winky” Wright solidifying the right to face Jermain Taylor, the stage is now set for two of the best jabbers in boxing, in my opinion, to face each other, and for “Winky” to become undisputed once more. Two Saturday nights ago at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT, Wright earned that position with a win over the durable, if awkward, Sam Soliman. Wright seemed to be a bit off his game, but he was still able to pull out a win by unanimous decision. The iron clad defence that Wright is known for was there, but the Austrailian was able to get through and land some hard shots to the face and head every now and then. More...

With Audley Harrison now out of the British and World title scene following his dismal performance against Williams, when he was floored and humiliated by the Brixton puncher, unbeaten Skelton aims to reclaim his Commonwealth crown that Williams now holds. More...
Jean-Marc Mormeck has often been asked when fighting in the United States, why he has yet to adopt an intimidating nickname like so many other boxers do. The good-natured Frenchman responded to such a question at a press conference prior to his SHOWTIME-televised unification win on April 2 in Worcester, Mass., that he would take submissions from Americans on his web site. Mormeck then decided to let fans make the final decision on SHO.com More...

After having been awarded several controversial decision victories during title fights, WBA Heavyweight Champion John Ruiz found himself on the losing end last night at Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin after seven foot tall Russian challenger Nikolay Valuev walked off with a split decision win. It was like many Ruiz fights, all clinching and mauling, as the Massachussets man tried to keep the towering Valuev from gaining room to make use of a vastly superior reach. Still, Valuev was able to find a home at times for the jab but it was his solid work in the middle rounds that likely swayed the judges and a sizzling cross to the chin that staggered Ruiz as the fight came to a close probably cemented the victory for the gigantic St. Petersburg man. A furious Ruiz has demanded a rematch and will reportedly petition the WBA to bring that about.
The undercard of Fight Academy's David Haye - Alexander Gurov European Cruiserweight title bout in Bracknell last night was full of cracking contests, headed by a heavyweight bout between Maidenhead's Roman Greenberg and Texas tourist Kendrick Releford. Greenberg, originally from Russia by way of Israel, came into the contest undefeated in twenty bouts while Releford had shared the ring with such accomplished opposition as DaVarryl Williamson, Alexander Dimitrenko, Eliecer Castillo and Robert Hawkins. The main event of the night on Fight Academy's card from Bracknell, England last night was the European Cruiserweight Title bout between Champion Alexander Gurov of the Ukraine and challenger David Haye from the Bermondsey section of London. The first thing noticed about the "Hayemaker" as he climbed through the ropes was his ripped physical appearance and a look of thunder across his face. To say that he was in the zone would be an understatement. More...

It's always been clear that London area cruiserweight David Haye has had bags of potential but in his big step up fight over a year ago, the hammer fisted power puncher failed to knock out IBO Champion Carl Thompson and paid the price for suspect conditioning as "The Cat" roared back and stopped Haye in the fifth. No doubt European Champion Alexander Gurov expected a full on assault from Haye but the seasoned Ukrainian southpaw never got the chance to unleash his own vaunted arsenal as he walked into a lethal left-right combination from the Englishman from which he would not recover from.
David Haye has won the European title and has done so in spectacular fashion. Gurov had gone eight rounds with hardened Frenchman and WBA Champion Jean Marc Mormeck in 2003, his only loss since 1998 when another Englishman, Terry Dunstan, rubbed out the Ukrainian in a single round as well. More...
It was a soggy, cold evening in the big apple but that didn't stop fight fans from coming to the Hammerstein Ballroom for the last installment of the Broadway Boxing Series of 2005. As I entered the Ballroom, Gary Starks was up and as usual, he controlled the pace from beginning to end, dominating his opponent from start to finish. He went on to pound out an unanimous, eight round decision win over Jose Hernandez. He improves to 13-0-6ko's. Also on the fight card was Edgar Santana who completely destroyed Jeremy Stiers. It took Santana just one round to stop the game but obviously overmatched Stiers. Santana jumped on his opponent from the opening bell and never let up. Several crushing body shots sent Stiers onto the canvas, and as the bell toll to end round one, Santana dropped Stiers for the third and final time. More...

The two most talented and courageous lightweights in the world will collide in an eagerly awaited rubber match to decide once and for all who is the No. 1 135-pounder on the planet. More...
Hold on to your hats folks, David Haye is back in action this Friday night at Bracknell Leisure Centre but the man standing between the London area bomber and his fast track to world glory is European titleholder, and former two-time WBA title challenger. Alexander Gurov of the Ukraine.
In a forty odd fight career, there isn’t much that Gurov hasn’t seen, indeed his wealth of experience (including having sparred with Haye) is what manager Philippe Fondu feels will be the difference between the two. Coming to England to take on "The Haymaker" wont bother Gurov who is well travelled and will be having his third outing in a British ring, his last being a one round blitzing at the hands of Terry Dunstan in 1998. SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING begins its 20th year of televising fights with a world championship doubleheader on Jan. 7, 2006 (9 p.m., ET/PT, delayed on the west coast). Undisputed world welterweight champion Zab “Super” Judah defends against WBC No. 1 welterweight contender Carlos Baldomir in one of the world title fights. In the SHOWTIME co-feature, WBC/WBA champion Jean-Marc Mormeck faces IBF champion O’Neil Bell in a cruiserweight world title unification bout.
Judah: I respect Carlos for making it to the point where he made it at, but I am at a point right now where I am proving to the world that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter out there. And it just so happened that Carlos Baldomir is in my weight and he is going to be a prime example of how I am going to show everybody that I am the best.
Baldomir: I would like to thank everybody and wish them a happy holiday, Merry Christmas, and Feliz Navidad. Zab’s record speaks for itself, so nobody has to confirm the greatness he has already achieved. We are honored to come into the ring with him, but we still have to lace him up. More...
