In a hard fought see-saw battle this evening, one of Maloney Promotion's shining stars, Jamie Moore retained his British Light Middleweight crown in a titanic struggle with a very willful challenger in Matthew Macklin at the GH Carnall Centre in Manchester, England on a Sky Sports televised broadcast.
The challenger took the first round by setting the kind of blazing fast pace that stablemate Ricky Hatton has ridden to world honours. The more experienced southpaw champion bolted his guard down tight to weather the storm but was outworked by Macklin. The second was more of the same with the exception of Moore getting the rhythm of Macklin's attack and scoring with wicked counters to take the second frame. More...

Former two time WBO Heavyweight Champion Herbie Hide has returned to the sport of boxing after two years of inactivity and is now campaigning as a cruiserweight. His long awaited return to the ring saw Hide blow away one Mitch Hicks in a single round earlier this month. Now based in Las Vegas, the British fighter is excited at the prospect of “shaking up” his new division and earlier this week, Herbie graciously granted SaddoBoxing the following interview.
SaddoBoxing: First of all, congratulations on the comeback win. Did it feel good getting back in the ring after being out for over two years?
Herbie Hide: "Well, I was never really two years out, Mick (Hennessy) couldn't seem to get me a fight. I'd never retired, I was always in the gym training. At the time, Mickey was trying to get a deal going but he couldn't get no fights. But I was always in the gym anyway."
SB: Was it frustrating? Were you dying to get back in the ring?
HH: "Yeah, I was dying to get back because I knew I was gonna be a cruiserweight and that was a new excitement to me. I was never really a heavyweight, I fought them because I could beat heavyweights, but I was never a heavyweight. Danny Williams and Audley Harrison and all them guys are probably thinking, 'oh, yeah, he’s gone down to cruiserweight, good.' More...

It was a relaxed atmosphere at Monton House Hotel, Manchester, England yesterday for the weigh-in of British Light Middleweight Champion Jamie Moore and his opponent Matthew Macklin. The two will certainly be a little more tense during their clash tonight on a Maloney Promotion at the sold out GH Carnall Centre in the Davyhulme section of Manchester.
After weighing slightly over on the scales on his first try, Jamie Moore had to remove his necklaces and then his shorts to come in right on the button' at 154 lbs with Matthew Macklin coming in at 153 lbs and 9 oz. More...

"2007 Is Going To Be A Big Year!"
As founder and CEO of DiBella Entertainment, Lou DiBella is one of the biggest names in boxing promotions. The New Yorker has a stable of top veteran fighters and up and coming stars; Fres Oquendo, Kofi Jantuah, Paul Malignaggi, David Estrada and Sechew Powell along with two former world champions Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson and Ike "Bazooka" Quartey are just a few names on his list.
Top it all off with the current Undisputed Middleweight Champion Jermain "Bad Intentions" Taylor and you have more talent than you can shake a stick at. Yet with all his success, Lou has maintained the everyday guy attitude and seems to show genuine care for his fighters.
This was evident when he spoke of the late Leavander Johnson, former IBF Lightweight Champion who died from complications due to in ring injuries last year.
Here is what Lou had to say about that the tribute paid to Johnson in Atlantic City earlier this week and what's coming up for his fighters.
SaddoBoxing: Lou, how are you? Congratulations on a successful show last Wednesday. What's coming up next?
Lou Dibella: "We have one on October 20th in the small room at the Hammerstein. It will feature Erik Kirkland, Jaidon Codrington, Raymond Biggs and a few others." More...
