There was scattered action across the globe this weekend with former world champions, current European titlists and many hot prospects making appearances.
We'll start with Saturday in Buenos Aires, Argentina where 34 year old ex-WBA Lightweight Champion Raul Horacio Balbi, 55-8-1 (33), rebounded from his failed bid to unseat WBA 140 lb titlist at the time, Souleymane Mbaye, in September of last year with a second round KO of Diego Jesus Ponce, 11-4-2 (1).
Also on the card, former two time WBO light heavyweight title challenger Hugo Hernan Garay, 29-3 (16), dropped opponent Franco Raul Sanchez, 8-4-2 (1), twice in the second at cruiserweight but was disqualified in the same round for continuing to hit Sanchez after the bell.
Smooth boxing light welter Cesar Rene Cuenca, 31-0 (1), continued to gather steam with a clear cut six round points win over Sergio Javier Benitez, 11-15-3 (2). More...

IBF 122 lb Champion Steve Molitor was stretched the distance for the first time in five contests last night at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario when the 27 year old from Sarnia battled Thailand's Fashan 3K Battery to a wide points win on an Allan Tremblay/Orion Sports promotion.
Once again, it was Molitor's patient application of considerable skills which saw him past another another highly experienced opponent. Facing a fellow southpaw for the third time in his past five contests, "The Canadian Kid" waited for his adversary to make mistakes and forced 3K Battery to pay the price when he inevitable missed with arcing powershots.
Molitor was never able to hurt his opponent but did win round after round, building an insurmountable lead that the Thai visitor was unable to put a dent in despite his best efforts in the seventh round.
The home fighter used good movement to keep 3K Battery from ever getting set and rattled the challenger with an educated jab and sporadic attacks
before the two let rip with a vicious slugfest in the 12th and final round. More...

There was some great undercard action on the Frank Maloney/VIP bill at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England on Friday night.
Young Jack Arnfield made an impressive start to his pro-debut when he made short work of Cambridge-boy, Louis Byrne in the first round of a four round light middleweight contest.
Arnfield came out fighting and being keen to impress on his first professional fightnight - was too much for Byrne and the referee stopped the fight.
Arnfield's stablemate Mike Gomez hardly had time to shout too much from his ringside seat! Jack's trainer Bobby Rimmer was delighted with the performance as Arnfield moves his record to 1-0 (0). Byrne dropes to 1-3 (1). More...

The Robin Park Arena was packed last night for the shared Frank Maloney/VIP promoted fight night, billed as “National Service’, in which Jamie Moore defended his British Light Middleweight title against Andrew Facey.
Mooresy, described as “The Fighters Fighter’ was to face Andrew “Smiley’ Facey for a second time, having defeated the Sheffield man in Ireland four years ago.
Facey entered the ring alongside his trainers Dominic Ingle and Brendan Ingle along with stablemate WBC Light Welterweight Champion Junior Witter – who carried his Facey's English Light Middleweight Belt aloft.
Moore entered the ring with trainer Oliver Harrison, cornermen Ged Livesey, Humphrey Oliver and Jamie’s friend, actor and singer Will Mellor of EastEnders fame, who carried the British Light Middleweight belt. There was huge support for the like-able Mooresy from Manchester. More...

IBF Super Bantamweight Champion Steve Molitor puts his belt at risk for second time when he meets experienced Thai fighter Fashan 3K Battery at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario, Canada on an Allan Tremblay/Orion Sports promotion.
Southpaw Molitor, 24-0 (10), burst onto the world scene with a big win over previously unbeaten European Champion Michael Hunter, knocking out the pressure fighter in the fifth in Hunter's hometown of Hartlepool, England to annex the vacant IBF title in November of last year.
"The Canadian Kid" further cemented his standing as an elite level fighter by stopping South Africa's tough IBO Champion, Takalani Ndlov this past July in an impressive performance.
Now Molitor must once again display his skills against an experienced opponent in the form of Thailand's Narongrit Pirang, better know as Fashan 3K Battery, 58-8-1 (35), who comes to Canada with every intention of taking Molitor's IBF crown. More...

By Rhun Leeding October 27th, 2007 All Boxing Results, Round by Round
Last night British Light Middleweight Champion Jamie Moore went up against awkward challenger, English Champion Andrew Facey in a rematch at Robin Park Arena in Wigan, England.
In the build-up to this fight, Moore's good friend and world's top light welterweight Ricky Hatton spoke about and indicated what I believed is the case that this will be Moore's last domestic fight as long as he wins.
Local hero Moore gets a rapturous welcome, while Facey's is a little more subdued. The Sheffield based Facey doesn't look to worried, and one of the most obvious thing to see is that Facey's four inch height and reach difference is quite large.
Backing up the unfancied Facey and holding his belt is the WBC Light Welter Champion, Junior Witter.
Next up, it's fight time, and Moore is looking focussed and strong.
Round one: Facey with the opening blows, as southpaw Moore keeping his gloves high, and not shipping any of the punches. Moore with a long jab to the body, then does well to get inside and throw a couple of punches. Facey's punches don't seem to have much zip on them, although they are plentiful.
Moore with a nice left hook as Facey backs out of the clinch. Facey plants a long jab, and a body shot as Moore closes the distance. Moore with a pair of body shots, and another good left hook up top. Moore falls short with a punch, and takes a left hook himself. Facey with a couple of pawing punches as Moore comes in. More...

On November 10, 2007, Madison Square Garden once again shows why it is the Mecca of boxing. The old ring may have been retired but that has not stopped the venue from having the most exciting cards in all of boxing.
This coming November that tradition continues when WBA Welterweight Champion Miguel Cotto, 30-0 (25), puts his title on the line against "Sugar" Shane Mosley, 44-4 (37), in a bout that many are already predicting will be one of 2007’s fights of the year before it has even taken place, although the main event of the evening is only one of several top bouts to take place on the card.
Aside from Cotto vs. Mosley we will see the return of former WBO Welterweight Champion Antonio "Tony" Margarito, 34-5 (24), in his first bout since losing the title to Paul "The Punisher" Williams earlier this year.
Margarito will face veteran contender and current NABF Welterweight Champion Golden Johnson, 25-7-3 (18), for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Welterweight title. Margarito is in search of another world title and promises to make a statement on November 10 in hopes of a shot at the winner of the Cotto/Mosley bout.
Also on the undercard that night, we will see the return of Joel "El Cepillo" Casamayor, 34-3 (21), in his first fight since beating the late Diego Corrales over a year ago. Casamayor will not only be debuting under the banner of his new promotion company, Golden Boy Productions, it will also be his first fight back with Joe Goossen as his trainer since his first fight with Diego Corrales.
Casamayor, looking to make a statement of his own, will lay his Ring Magazine lightweight title on the line against Jose Armando Santa Cruz, 25-2 (14), the tough Mexican-American warrior who is perhaps best known for his performance against David Diaz in 2006. More...

| Tonight at the Eastern Michigan University Convocation Center in Detroit, Michigan, Contender alum Cornelius “K-9” Bundrage, 26-3 (15), will face Nelson Manchego, 12-7-1 (8), in a 10 round light middleweight bout.
K-9 has remained active since the second season of the Contender series ended in 2006. In January, he defeated Chris Smith on ESPN’s Friday Night Fights. |

Then in March, he traveled to the United Kingdom to compete in a Contender Tournament of UK fighters versus Contender fighters where he knocked out Colin McNeil.
In July, K-9 took a high profile fight on only two weeks notice that was televised on ESPN’s Wednesday Night Fights and took place as part of the after-party for the 2007 ESPY Awards Show. He suffered his first loss of the year against tough prospect Joel Julio.
SaddoBoxing had the pleasure of speaking to K-9 in an exclusive phone interview earlier this week.
SaddoBoxing: What have you been doing since your loss to Joel Julio?
Cornelius Bundrage: “I don’t like to talk about my last fight; some people don’t even know I lost my last fight. I would rather talk about something else.” More...

Tonight at the Robin Park Arena, in Wigan, England, one of trainer Bobby Rimmers' young boxers, light welter Jack Arnfield, is appearing on the undercard of Frank Maloney's Jamie Moore vs. Andrew Facey rematch and SaddoBoxing had the good fortune to briefly speak with Rimmer about his stable of fighters.
SaddoBoxing: Bobby, Jack Arnfield is making his pro debut on Friday when he fights Lewis Byrne; how is he feeling ahead of the fight?
Bobby Rimmer: "Absolutely fantastic! It's his first professional fight tomorrow. Training has gone great. He's a nice boxer is young Jack, a bit like Brian [Rose] but can be a bit more adventurous than Brian. More...

In preparation for tonight's Frank Maloney Promotions bill, "National Service", at the Robin Park Centre in Wigan, England, British Light Middleweight Champion Jamie Moore and challenger Andrew Facey both made weight yesterday as they prepared to tangle once again.
Moore, 27-3 (18), canvassed Facey, 19-4-1 (6), multiple times before stopping the lanky Sheffield man four years ago in Belfast but the North-West working class hero is expecting a tough fight and is taking nothing for granted as he hopes to make the third defense of his second reign as British Champion.
Facey comes into the contest as English Champion on the strength of his shock upset of previously unbeaten Gary Woolcombe this past Juanuary. More...
