Bank Holiday weekend in the UK – and what could be nicer than a Sunday afternoon at the boxing! Steve Wood / VIP Promotions hosted a five card bill at the Copley Sports Centre in Stalybridge, Manchester, England yesterday which headlined local man Jon Kays.
A sunny day and a great atmosphere with lots of people enjoying an afternoon of local boxing talent!
Terry Flannigan (Manchester) v Csaba Toth (Hungary)
4 Round Welterweight Contest
Flannigan had hardly worked up a sweat when he floored Hungarian Toth inside the opening first round. Flanningan wins by first round TKO and improves to 6 wins (2 by KO) and no losses while Toth drops to 3 wins (2 by KO) and 4 losses (3 by KO). More...

It was a packed Castle Leisure Centre in Bury, England, on Saturday night for the Hatton Promotions fight-night. The fight-card billed as ‘Back Home’ was the first boxing event in Bury since its ban in 1997 and – judging by the support – surely won’t be the last event there!
But it was a quick night's work for headliner – and local boxer – Scott Quigg, who’s walk to the Leisure Centre from his front door probably took as long as his first round demolition over Russian opponent Andrey Kostin!
Confident and strong-looking Quigg landed a solid uppercut which sees Kostin fall to the canvas. He takes the count but -looking unsteady – the crowd sensed it would be an early finish and Quigg duly obliged!
After another head-shot, Kostin goes down. As he rises for the count he almost stumbles forward on Referee Howard Foster and was clearly unable to continue. More...

The WBC heavyweight championship between Vitali Klitschko and Albert Sosnowski turned out exactly as all experts and fans had expected. The challenger from Poland didn’t stand a chance against the more powerful half of the dominating force in the heavyweight division.
The older Klitschko brother once more wore down a helpless opponent with his unorthodox style and his powerful left hand using the right only to finish off his opponent in the tenth round. More...

Albert Sosnoski's Cinderella run at heavyweight glory was unceremoniously halted by divisional kingpin Vitali Klitschko last night in front of 60,000 fans at Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
After having defeated a laundry list of less than stellar opposition over the course of his first 45 pro bouts, over his last three appearances Sosnowski stopped former British champ Danny Williams and outpointed Paolo Vidoz, sandwiched around a European Union title draw against Francisco Pianeta.
Klitschko, 40-2 (38), however, served notice that he remains, along with his WBA/WBO/IBO champion brother Wladimir, the class of the division with yet another dominant performance.
But big-hearted Sosnowski, 45-3-1 (27), did manage to remain on his feet until the tenth round against the mammoth Klitschko, a feat few gave the Pole a chance to pull off prior to the bout. More...

Venezuelan puncher Miguel Acosta made good on his Namibian vacation, stretching out local man Paulus Moses in the sixth round last night for lightweight world honors at Kalahari Sand Hotel in Windhoek.
Moses had never lost a professional contest going into last evening's fight and was coming off both a WBA title win and defense over his past two outings but his confidence proved not enough to keep the victory parade going.
Acosta previously KO'd undefeated American Urbano Antillon in nine rounds for the Interim WBA belt and the Moses KO confirms that Caracas banger is a certified force to be reckoned with at 135 pounds. More...

Carlos Tamara's reign as IBF junior flyweight champion proved to be of brief duration as the American based Colombian's trip to the hometown of Luis Alberto Lazarte resulted in a split decision loss last night at Club Once Unidos in Mar Del Plata, Argentina.
Tamara came into the belt via a shocking upset of Brian Viloria in January, two years after failing to unseat WBO flyweight champion, and Argentine national hero, Omar Andres Narvaez, but could not carry the momentum into Mar Del Plata.
A full 12 years the senior of the 27 year old champion and the much shorter man Lazarte mounted his best performance in years to outwork Tamara via a 116-112, 115-113 and 113-115 split decision. More...

Big fight card tonight at Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico that sees homegrown WBO champions Wilfredo Vasquez Jr and Roman Martinez keep hold of their title belts in explosive fashion.

Tonight at the massive Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, WBC heavyweight king Vitali Klitschko makes the fourth defense of his second title reign.
Challenging Klitschko is England based Pole Albert Sosnowski, the reigning European champion who has only lost twice over a 48 bout pro career.
At 6 feet 8 inches tall, Klitschko, 39-2 (37), literally towers over the heavyweight division and since returning to the sport in 2008 has handily defeated Sam Peter, Juan Carlos Gomez, Chris Arreola and Kevin Johnson.
Those challengers barely won a round over Klitschko and it is difficult to see Sosnowski improving upon that success rate. More...

WBA lightweight ruler Paulus Moses puts his world title on the line tonight, meeting the challenge of Miguel Acosta at Kalari Sands Hotel in Windhoek, Namibia.
Venezuelan puncher Acosta, 26-3-2 (20), seemingly came out of nowhere to capture the Interim WBA belt last year by knocking out American contender Urbano Antillon in Mexico.
But the 32 year old Caracas veteran had won a WBA super feather title eliminator over previously undefeated Anges Adjaho in 2007 and holds a victory over ex-WBA lightweight strapholder Jose Alfaro.
31 year old Moses, 25-0 (17), was also largely unknown when he traveled to Japan and dethroned WBA lightweight titlist Yusuke Kobori in January, 2009 and "The Hitman" solidified his grip on the crown by beating back the challenge of Takehiro Shimada by a wide points decision a year ago. More...

Ex-world champion Eric Lucas had his comeback derailed last night by iron-chinned American super middleweight Librado Andrade at Quebec City's Pepsi Coliseum.
Andrade, 29-3 (22), bounced back from an IBF title fight loss to Lucien Bute by absorbing everything the 39 year old Lucas could offer and punishing the Montreal legend in return before the contest was stopped at 3:00 of the eighth.
Former WBC champion Lucas, 39-8-3 (15), took four years off following his 2006 WBA title fight defeat to Mikkel Kessler, returning last December with a fourth round KO of Ramon Pedro Moyano.
31 year old Andrade could see another title fight opportunity from this victory in the form of a potential third clash with Bute.
Chief support bout on the card featured super feather Benoit Gaudet, 22-2 (9), stopping Pipino Cuevas Jr., 14-5 (12), in the eighth frame. More...
