The question of just who is the best light heavyweight in Florida was answered last night at the Gulf Coast Arena in Biloxi, MS as Roy Jones Jr and Jeff Lacy headlined the heavily-hyped "Hook City" fight card.
In a sharp display of one-way traffic, Jones controlled the pace of the bout the entire duration, beating ex-IBF super middle titlist Jeff Lacy to the punch time after time.
Despite turning 40 in January, Jones had little difficulty with his 32 year old adversary, convincing Lacy's corner to pull their man out before the advent of the 11th round.
Former multi-weight world champion Jones improves to 54-5 (40), while Lacy falls to 27-3 (17), after losing twice over his last three appearances. More...

It's the battle for Florida bragging rights tonight at the Gulf Coast Arena in Biloxi, MS as former world champions Roy Jones Jr and Jeff Lacy tangle for the NABO light heavyweight crown.
Neither one of these combatants are anywhere near their prime but it could be interesting as Jones, 53-5 (39), seeks to keep his career alive a full six years after his last masterful performance and Lacy, 25-2 (17), looks to regain his edge that was blunted forcefully by Joe Calzaghe in 2006.
40 year old Jones is coming off a stoppage win against Omar Sheika in March while Lacy, 32, managed a majority decision over Otis Griffin in April but Jones will likely have the advantage tonight in Biloxi. More...

Former World Light Heavyweight Champion Roy Jones Jr, 53-5 (39), made a successful comeback following his loss to Joe Calzaghe last November with a fifth round stoppage of former super middle world title challenger Omar Sheika, 27-9 (18), at the Civic Center in Jones' hometown of Pensacola, FL.
On the support bill, undefeated cruiserweight contender BJ Flores, 23-0-1 (14), posted a ten rounder over big punching Colombian Jose Luis Herrera, 16-6 (16).
The Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills, CA saw ex-IBF Light Middle titlist Roman Karmazin, 38-3-1 (24), stop former world middle title challenger Antwun Echols, 31-10-4 (27), in the seventh round at middleweight and middleweight prospect Miguel Angel Espino, 20-2-1 (9), dropped former WBA Light Middle Champ Alejandro Garcia, 26-5-1 (24), twice enroute to a sixth round stoppage win. Welterweight Holly Holm was in action last night at her stomping grounds of the Isleta Casino in Albuquerque, NM where the 27 year old southpaw defeated opponent Myriam Lamare on points after ten rounds of combat.
The local southpaw retained her WIBF title in a difficult battle with French slugger Lamare, a former WBA Light Welter Champion who had only come up short in world title fights against the world's top light welter, Anne Sophie Mathis.
Holm saw things go her way early on as she put her greater height and reach to good use, keeping her 34 year old Continental foe at arm's length.
But Lamare's persistence paid off in the later rounds as she closed distance and found the champion with a lot of shots but Holm's early lead proved too much to overcome as she swept the cards by scores of 98-92, 97-93 and 96-94. More...
