By Alejandro Tostado September 13th, 2009 All Boxing Results

The main event at El Palenque de la Feria in Tepic, Mexico featured a highly competitive WBO minimumweight title defense by Donnie Nietes.

The Filipino visitor was given all he could handle by Interim WBO titlist Manuel Vargas but after twelve difficult rounds were completed, wildly diverged scores were announced.

Vargas won one of the cards 116-112 while Nietes took the others 118-110 and 116-110 to win the split decision. Nietes improves to 25-1-3 (14), while Vargas goes to 26-4-1 (11).

Light middle Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, 40-0-1 (30), annihilated American Jason LeHoullier, 21-2-1 (8), in the first round to keep the WBO Latino belt. More...

Boxing In America: Weekend Results

By Richard Eberline December 21st, 2008 All Boxing Results

Last night at Hollywood Park Casino in Inglewood, CA, former world champions were in action as Roman Karmazin, 37-3-1 (23), tangled with Bronco McKart, 51-9-1 (31), for the vacant NABF Middleweight title.

Both combatants had their glory days at light middle and 35 year old former IBF and European Champ Karmazin proved to be fresher than 37 year old ex-WBO Champ McKart, pulling out a 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111 unanimous decision victory after twelve rounds.

WBC ABC/PABA/WBO Asia Pacific Welter titlist Vitaliy Demyanenko, 16-0 (11), defeated Marteze Logan, 26-35-2 (6), when Logan couldn't continue after two rounds and middleweight David Medina, 20-2 (10), won his sixth in a row with a six round UD over Dan Wallace, 9-8 (3).

At the Howard U Burr Arena in Washington, DC, WBF Middleweight titlist Kreshnik Qato, 18-6 (3), made a rare American appearance and the London based Albanian made the best of it, stopping David Estrada, 12-11 (9), in the sixth frame.

Also on the bill, super middle Jesse Brinkley, 32-5 (22), went to light heavy to stop James Johnson, 23-31-3 (13), in the third. More...

Boxing In America: Friday Night Results

By Richard Eberline July 26th, 2008 All Boxing Results

Leading up to tonight's big showdown between Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, there were a few good cards across the states last night and we start this report with the amazing comeback of Antonio Diaz, 43-5-1 (29), who came off a three year hiatus to overcome Felix Flores, 22-7 (16), by majority decision to annex the vacant WBO Latino Light Middleweight title at the Civic Centre in Kissimmee, Florida.

33 year old Diaz challenged unsuccessfully for two world titles at welterweight, losing to Shane Mosley and Margarito, but held wins over Corey Spinks, Mickey Ward, Emmanuel Augustus, Omar Weis and Ivan Robinson among others by the time of his most recent bout, a fifth round TKO over welterweight Roberto Ortega in August, 2005.

32 year old Flores, who also bid twice unsuccessfully for world titles, losing to DeMarcus Corley and Sharmba Mitchell, was coming off consecutive competitive losses to contenders Joshua Clottey and Cosme Rivera.

Against Flores last night, Californian Diaz gritted out a tough win over his Puerto Rican opponent, perhaps being the fresher man after such a long time out of the ring, and finds himself with exciting new career possibilities in the light middleweight division.

City Center in Saratoga Springs, New York was the site of middleweight prospect James McGirt, Jr, 19-1 (9), winning the biggest fight of his career, a ten round decision over contender Raymond Joval, 37-5 (16).

Those in attendance at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas witnessed Jesus Soto Karass, 21-3-3 (15), winning the vacant NABF Welterweight crown by stopping Chicago hard man David Estrada, 22-5 (13), in the eighth frame. More...
