Last night at the Robin Park Arena in Wigan, England VIP Promotions and vipboxing.tv presented an evening of professional boxing headlined by the vacant British Masters Light-Heavyweight Championship between Liverpool's Carl ‘Dynamite’ Dilks and Sheffield's ‘The Peoples Poet’ - Billy Boyle.
There was big support for both boxers as they came out for this title-clash and it turned out to be a cracker of a contest! Packed full of action - both men kept busy right from the first bell.
Dilks landed heavy, powerful body-shots with regularity and we wondered how Boyle was managing to soak them up! Bouncing off the ropes - Dilks would launch his long reaching left and rights at Boyle's head. It was an ‘even’ round four which sees both men score with shots to head and body. More...

Last night at the Floral Hall in Southport, England, Steve Wood of VIP Promotions presented a fight night which would feature six thrilling contests.
The venue is sited in a lovely location - right alongside Marine Lake in the coastal town of Southport - in the Northwest of England and was hosting its first boxing event since 1934. Even more surprising is that it was a warm, sunny day - with no rain!
Boxing commenced with a four round light middleweight contest between Chris ‘Johno’ Johnson of Manchester and Geraint Harvey of Pontypridd, Wales. But it was a nightmare for the home-corner as Johnson is on the canvas in the first round. Looking stunned by the knockdown - Johnson digs in to see it out to the end of the round.
The second frame sees the southpaw regain some composure as he throws lefts and rights at the head of the Welshman, but Harvey was motivated and had Johno down in the third frame again. Getting up for the count, the Mancunian looked dazed and referee Mark Lyson called a halt to the contest. More...

Last night at the Indoor Sports Centre in Leigh, England, Frank Maloney hosted a fight night headlined by the British Super Bantamweight title clash between Jason Booth and Mark Moran.
Booth was scheduled to fight Lee Haskins for the British super flyweight belt and while Moran was to fight Mathew Marsh for the super bantam crown, but with less than two weeks notice Haskins and Marsh dropped out, leaving Booth to face Moran.
Booth already holds the Commonwealth bantam strap and now - having moved up in weight - had his eye on a third belt.
Moran gets off to a confident start against the experienced ‘2Smooth’ Booth, concentrating on body-shots mid-way through the round. More...

On Sunday afternoon, Steve Wood of VIP Promotions hosted a seven fight bill at the newly built Leigh Sports Centre in Lancashire, England.
Top of the bill saw Thomas "Tommy" McDonagh of Manchester face Jason "The Rocket" Rushton of Doncaster in a six round light middleweight contest. It was a good first round for taller McDonagh, who had Rushton under pressure in the opener, but McDonagh seemed to get frustrated as the contest wore on and didn't look happy between rounds.
Both men waited for their opponent to throw a punch - McDonagh the straight right and Rushton the left. But, it was a good 60-54 points win for "Storm Boy" McDonagh, who improves to 32-1-3 (6).
There was the usual big following for super middleweight Martin Murray of St. Helens as he came up against Joseph Sovijus of Slovakia. But it was a short night's work for the man from Merseyside as he scored a first round knockout over the Slovakian, notching up his ninth win, three by KO. More...

Sunday, at the Sutton Sports Centre in St. Helens, Merseyside, England - Steve Woods / VIP Boxing hosted another great afternoon of boxing action!
Blackpool boxer Brian Rose was victorious - scoring a clear points win over Belgium's Kobe Vandekerkhove in a six round light middleweight contest.
Roses's trainer, Bobby Rimmer, told SaddoBoxing this morning "Brian boxed brilliantly - I'm very pleased with how he performed! Vandekerkhove is a tough boxer but he couldn't get past Brian's jab and I think he just drew on one round.
"Bri got cut over his left eye in round three which needed about four stitches, but Brian wasn't bothered - he just gets on with it !"
Rose improves to 9 wins, no losses with two KOs and one draw while Vandekerkhove falls to 11-7-1 (5). More...
