Ian 'Dapa' Napa has given £500 to injured boxer Gilbert Eastman. Napa donated his cash prize for being voted 'Fighter of the Night' after taking the European Bantamweight title from Carmelo Ballone on October 17. In winning the cash prize, Hackney's pocket dynamo edged out lightweight Henry Castle, who knocked out Graham Earl on the York Hall show.

When Napa was told of his £500 windfall, he immediately insisted the money went to Eastman, the Battersea boxer who needed brain surgery after collapsing shortly after losing to light middleweight Sam Webb on the same bill and is thankfully now on the mend. More...

Ian ‘Dappa’ Napa had his toughest test yet last night when he challenged big-punching Belgian Carmelo Ballone for the European Bantamweight title at the famous York Hall, Bethnal Green, in the East End of London.

The likable Hackney lad entered the ring wearing his usual dark shades and with a female entourage holding his British title belt aloft. The ‘Belgian Butcher’ Ballone had plenty of support from his own fans who’d made the trip to London. Loud horns were blasting out around the York Hall as he stepped coolly into the ring.

Ballone, the taller of the two having a long-reaching southpaw stance, had the better start - with Napa adopting his usual tight, stiff, defence and being more cautious as he settles in. More...

The EBU have declared Sinan Samil Sam as winner in the fight for the vacant European Heavyweight title against Paolo Vidoz on July 4. The fight was scored a draw but one of the judges - Frenchman Robin Dolpierre - first had the final round 10-9 for Sam, then crossed out the 9 and scored the round 10-10. More...
