The boxing schedule for the last quarter of the year is ridiculously good. Big matches abound, starting with next week’s Floyd Mayweather Jr’s comeback fight with Juan Manuel Marquez.
There is another mega fight in Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto, then three great matches in the Super Six World Boxing Classic and Paul Williams vs. Kelly Pavlik. Throw in Glen Johnson vs. Chad Dawson and you have an amazing schedule.
By the time we get to December, it would be understandable to see a dip in the boxing product. But, it is in that month that we may find two gems - two fights that might get a little less universal hype, but have almost can’t miss tags on them.
The first is December 5th when WBO Light Welter Champ Tim Bradley defends his title against Lamont Peterson. Between the two of them, they have not one single loss. They are both young and both in their primes. They are also both extraordinary boxers.
I have had the pleasure of announcing Bradley’s last several match-ups sand have seen his development as a young champion. Peterson, who survived a torturous childhood on the streets of Washington DC, is as skilled a fighter as you would ever see.
And reportedly, he recently gave Mayweather all he could handle in a now legendary sparring session in Las Vegas. This is an even match and having a real conviction on who will win is not an easy thing to do.
This fight has 12 rounds of really good action written all over it. I am not sure either man can knock the other out, and they they both have such good offense that they will throw a lot of punches and land a lot. More...

Here we look at potential opponents for WBC Super Middleweight Champion Carl Froch, assessing the box office potential and career enhancements that 'The Cobra' could gain from certain adversaries.
Bernard Hopkins: Light Heavyweight (49-5-1-1)
Possibly the biggest draw box office wise, also seems to be hardest to negotiate with money-wise for Froch so far, with Hopkins supposedly playing hard ball over the purse split.
This clash would also mean a step up in weight to 175lbs, but rumours in the press suggest 'The Executioner' is set to retire after not finding a suitable opponent since schooling Kelly Pavlik last October.
Chad Dawson: Light Heavyweight (28-0)
A real long shot again at light heavy, could attract some US television coverage after 'Bad' Chad's two victories over Antonio Tarver. Possibly not the fighter to capture the imagination of British audiences because of his technical style either.
An unlikely match-up, with Froch looking to unify the super middleweight division before looking at moving up in weight. More...

Fresh off his demolition job of former NABO and WBO title challenger DeAndrey Abron, Yusef Mack now feels he is ready for anyone in the division.
He has now chalked up 5 impressive wins which include 3 by stoppage and now is quickly becoming recognised as one of the top challengers at light heavyweight.
“I will fight anyone, I feel I am the best in the division and with my team behind me I am unbeatable, first on my list would be Chad Dawson," said Mack.
"He is obviously currently regarded as the best and that is the spot I want, title or not Dawson would be my first pick, it looks like he will now fight Johnson so I might have to wait and get the winner. More...

Chad Dawson won his rematch last night with Antonio Tarver at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas, defending his IBF and IBO light heavyweight belts in the process.
Dawson won nearly ever round against Tarver during their initial clash this past October and while he was never in any trouble last night, the rematch victory wasn't as dominant.
Tarver was more aggressive and threw more punches this time out but once again, Dawson at 26 was just two fast for his 40 year old rival and while he wasn't as busy as Tarver, was far more accurate.
At the end of 12 frames, Dawson swept the cards 117-111 twice and 116-112, improving to 28-0 (17). Tarver drops to 27-6 (19).
Heavyweight prospect Bowie Tupou, 18-0 (14), stopped Chris Koval, 24-6 (18), and featherweight Melissa Hernandez, 10-1-2 (3), posted a six round decision over Jeri Sitzes, 14-9-1 (6).

Tonight, IBF/IBO Light Heavy Champ "Bad" Chad Dawson faces Antonio Tarver at the Hard Rock in Las Vegas, NV for a rematch to their intial clash last October, which Dawson won by a wide points margin.
In this battle of southpaws, Dawson, 27-0 (17), holds all the advantages with the exception of the experience department, where Tarver, 27-5 (19), has the edge.
At 26, Dawson is far younger than the 40 year old Tarver and he can really only lose this one if he beats himself.
The New Haven man's defense isn't the best but he usually wins fights by keeping opponents more concerned about what's coming at them rather than their own offense.
Tarver's camp has gotten good mileage during the press buildup for this bout by mentioning that "The Magic Man" has never lost a rematch. More...
