Friday night, at the Civic Hall, Wolverhampton, England, First Team Promotions (PJ Rowson and Errol Johnson) staged a five-card fight night billed as ‘Big Bother’.

The headliner was Steve Saville's defence of the British Masters light welter title.

‘Bomber’ was expected to face Jon Baguley in a ten round contest - but a last minute change of opponent saw Youssef Al Hamidi step in.

Also on the card Lyndsey Scragg faced Big Brother star Angel McKenzie, in an eight round super featherweight contest. More...

Sunday afternoon at the Meadowside Leisure Centre in Burton-on-Trent, England, PJ Rowson and Errol Johnson of ‘First Team Promotions’ hosted a fight card headlined by a British Masters title clash.

Robert Kenney (Wolverhampton) faced Dale Miles (Alfreton) in the main event for the British Masters Welterweight title.

It was a better start to the fight for Miles, in fact ‘Yam Yam’ Kenney didn’t really ‘pick it up’ during the fight. Miles’s corner shouts at him to ‘target the body!’ And he did land some solid body-shots in round five, which seemed to sap the Wolverhampton man, who has now sustained a cut under the left eye.

Despite Kenney’s corner urging him to go for the body - he didn’t, instead choosing to throw head shots, which weren’t having the effect. Southpaw Miles keeps up the body punches - landing while backing Kenney on the ropes in round six. More...

Yesterday at the Municipal Hall in Colne, Lancashire, England, VIP Promotions' Steve Wood hosted an afternoon of boxing which saw the return of Irish-Mancunian former two-time British Super Featherweight Champion Michael Gomez.

Gomez was back out for the first time since his defeat to Bolton's Commonwealth Lightweight Champion Amir Khan in June of this year. Now under new trainer, Kevin Maree, a heavier Gomez took the fight against light middleweight Chris Brophy, with just a few days notice.

Entering the ring to huge support - as always - Gomez paced the ring back and forth like a man possessed as he waited to get going. As the bell signalled the start of this four round contest - it was clear that Gomez was going to go at Brophy like a bull at a gate. And the Welshman, now based in Preston, found himself on the canvas inside the first half minute of the opening round. More...

Friday night at Wolverhampton Civic Hall, in West Midlands, England, First Team Promotions (PJ Rowson and Errol Johnson) staged another entertaining night of boxing.

First to fight were likeable Keiron Gray from the Wednesbury Boxing Academy against late opponent - Davey Jones of Shinfield's Gym in a four round middleweight contest. ‘Slammer’ Gray of Telford had a tough test against the Lincolnshire man who landed some good right shots through the defence of Gray. Mid-way through round three and Jones lands a right hook but Gray returns with a solid body punch.

A good win for Gray, 40-37, who notches up his third win since turning pro in May of this year.

Next up was Wolverhampton southpaw Russ Colley, as he faced Preston-born Chris Brophy in a six round light middleweight contest. Colley, aka ’Rooster’, dominated the fight and despite being an inch shorter than his opponent, seemed to ‘tower’ over Brophy - throwing numerous long-reaching ‘rights’. There was big support for Colley from the West Midlands crowd as chants of ‘Rooster, Rooster’ rang out around the ‘Civic’. More...
