The Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool, England also played host to a cracking undercard on Friday night in a Matchroom Sports promoted fight night which was headlined by British Light Welterweight Champion David Barnes’s unanimous points win over Scottish boxer and former titlist Barry Morrison.

The second main fight of the evening was the eight round light welterweight contest between former European Champion 'Dangerous' Ted Bami of Brixton, London, and Stuart Elwell of Darlaston, West Midlands.

A former Commando in the Royal Marines, Elwell got off to a great start against Bami. It was a noisy atmosphere last night at the Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool, England, where David Barnes made his first defence of the British Light Welterweight title against former champion Barry Morrison.

In a Matchroom Sports promoted fight night, Scot Barry Morrison was looking to ʽwin back the beltʼ.

ʽThe Businessʼ Morrison has the tighter-looking defence as he holds his gloves up high to practically cover his face - but Barnes still gets through. Barnes looking the more ʽpolishedʼ boxer against Morrison. More...

But it was a nerve-racking time for Barnesy as he arrived late for the weigh-in and then scaled 14 ounces over the limit! Stripping off his underwear - Barnes took to the scales again to see how much he needed to lose. The second weight revealed an 11 ounce loss was needed and he had just one hour to shed the weight.
