Boxing In Canada: Lemieux KO’s Camacho In Montreal

By Danny Wilson October 30th, 2010 All Boxing Results

One of the biggest punchers in boxing was in action last evening as middleweight David Lemieux lit up the Montreal night with a sparkling KO of Hector Camacho Jr at The Casino.

Just 21 years of age, Lemieux came into the contest having knocked out all but one of 23 previous opponents but had never crossed swords with an adversary as experienced as Camacho.

The bout began with the taller Lemieux connecting with a hard right that Camacho immediately countered with a sharp left hook that seemed to surprised the Canadian.

But that was where Camacho's run of success ended as Lemieux managed to close distance and start landing rights to the head and body before a point blank short right caused Camacho to grab hold to keep from falling over. More...

Boxing In Canada: Lemieux KO’s Ayala In Montreal

By Danny Wilson June 12th, 2010 All Boxing Results

Canada's biggest puncher was in action last night at Montreal's Uniprix Stadium and middleweight David Lemieux lived up to his reputation in a big way.

Facing experienced and durable American veteran Elvin Ayala, the 21 year old local man stepped up to the plate and dropped his adversary three times in an explosive first round.

Ayala had attempted to gain the Canadian's respect early by standing in front of Lemieux but that strategy proved disastrous as the Montrealer connected with riveting combinations until the bout was stopped at 2:44 of the first frame.

The result is particularly impressive given Ayala lasting until the 12th round against IBF champion Arthur Abraham in 2008 and speaks volumes about not only Lemieux's power but his boxing ability as well. More...

Boxing In Canada: Pascal Shocks Diaconu To Win WBC Crown In Montreal

By Danny Wilson June 20th, 2009 All Boxing Results

14,000 boxing fans packed the Bell Centre in Montreal last night to witness what had been called the biggest fight in Canadian history as WBC light heavyweight champ Adrian Diaconu put his belt at risk against local crosstown rival Jean Pascal.

Challenger Pascal was coming up from super middle and it was unknown whether or not he'd be able to mix with a full fledged light heavy.

With a round it became clear that Pascal's fight plan was to avoid just such close quarters combat as he employed his height, reach and quickness advantages to keep Diaconu at the end of the jab.

Unable to cut off the ring and corner the fleet-footed challenger, Diaconu ate a lot of leather from the quick shots of Pascal. More...

Boxing In Canada: Decarie, Jean, Ross Win In Montreal

By Richard Eberline May 4th, 2008 All Boxing Results

GYM Promotions put on a good show last night at The Casino in Montreal and their prospects all walked away with victories in important bouts.

Welterweight Antonin Decarie, 19-0 (5), had a tough fight with previously unbeaten Ohio man Brian "The Golden Greek" Camechis, 17-1 (8), but moved forward steadily behind the jab to outwork the American.

Decarie had Camechis down in the fourth with a bodyshot but the visitor rebounded to canvas the local man in the fifth with a crisp counter left hook, although it was incorrectly ruled a slip.

After twelve rounds, Decarie won a unanimous decision 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 to annex the vacant WBO NABO Welterweight crown.

Light welter Dierry Jean, 13-0 (9), got the best win of his career by knocking out durable Mexican Henry Arjona, 17-11-1 (11), in the sixth. More...
