Barry Hearn’s Prizefighter returns next month and the latest competition promises to be the best yet.
Eight cruiserweights will be battling for the £25,000 top prize in the thrilling all-in-one-night tournament, which will be held at the Earls Court, London, on Tuesday, May 19.
The contenders have between them won two European belts, four Commonwealth championships and six British titles in the strongest looking line-up so far.
A press conference was held on the HMS Belfast on the River Thames and Matchroom Sport Chairman Barry Hearn is expecting fireworks next month.
“There are a lot of big names in this and I’ve enjoyed watching these guys careers over the last five, ten and 15 years," said Hearn, who has promoted more than 500 boxing shows.
“Boxing in some ways has lost its way and gone a bit stale. Prizefighter tries to turn the situation around by making it very easy to understand. Eight great fighters, eight former champions coming together for seven fights in one night. More...

Last night at Oasis Leisure Centre in Swindon, England, two of the top light heavyweights in the UK saw action but had very different results.
Commonwealth kingpin Nathan Cleverly, 15-0 (5), continued to show excellent form while destroying big puncher Samson Onyango, 18-4 (12), of Kenya in a single round.
Onyango, nicknamed "The Hammer" came into the bout with the reputation of being a danger man but it was the sharply-skilled 21 year old Welshman Cleverly who landed the bombs to end the night early.
Cleverly has now retained his title for the second time, achieving a knockout result in both instances.
Current British and former Commonwealth Light Heavyweight Champ Dean Francis, 30-3-1 (24), had a much harder time as he was held to a draw after eight rounds in a non-title bout at cruiserweight by former British Masters Super Middleweight titlist Joey Vegas, 11-4-1 (4). More...

Last Friday the 13th at the Mountbatten Center in Portsmouth, England produced a night of boxing that will be hard to beat anytime this year in terms of excitement.
Topping the Frank Maloney promoted bill for ʽFriday Fright Nightʼ was Tony ʽOakey Kokeyʼ of Portsmouth and Dean ʽDeanoʼ Francis from Basingstoke. The fight was billed by many as a ticket to a world title shot and with the British and Commonwealth titles at stake, that was no exaggeration.
The home fighter entered, wearing black and grey trunks to his favoured tune of 'Ohh the Oakey Kokeyʼ and with him was the FA Cup as his personal lucky mascot.
The crowd going wild gave him a huge reception and also their own version of the Oakey Kokey, which no doubt would fire him up even more.
His opponent, Dean Francis, entered also in black and grey trunks, looking much the more powerful of the two men, his physical condition certainly one of the finest specimens in boxing today.
The first round, if anything, was deceptive of the fight that was to follow. Neither fighter was particularly dominating, with Francis working behind the jab and Oakey trying to work his way in and go the man from Basingstokeʼs body.
In the second however, Oakey's high work rate and high pressure attacks seemed to already be getting to his man. Cutting and wobbling the Commonwealth Champion, Oakey took the round by a large margin. More...

A superb clash of light heavyweight champions took place last night at the Mountbatten Centre in Portsmouth, England as British titlist Tony Oakey and Commonwealth king Dean Francis went at it tooth and nail on a Frank Maloney promotion.
Francis dominated the first round as he picked off the always come-forward Oakey but the local Portsmouth battler found his focus in the second behind his legendary high workrate.
Oakey managed to cut Francis badly around the left eye and the bridge of the nose and continued to surge forth behind a two-fisted assault that kept the big punching Commonwealth Champion on the defensive.
By the fifth, the light hitting but persistent efforts of Oakey looked to have taken it's toll on Francis as the bigger man from Basingstoke was becoming unglued and unable to keep the British Champion off.
But a desperate Francis finds range with the right hand in the sixth and rips Oakey with shots that slow the stocky local man down. Oakey shakes off the punishment over the seventh and eighth frames but is finding it harder to land, although he does manage to cut Francis around the right eye. More...
