Ringside Boxing Report: Matthew Hatton Vs Lovemore N’Dou

By Jane Warburton November 16th, 2009 All Ringside Boxing

On Friday night at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke on Trent, England, Hatton Promotions hosted a fightnight which would see Mathew Hatton face South African born Champion Lovemore N’Dou for the first defence of the IBO Welterweight Title which N’Dou won in July this year.

Bearing an impressive 59 fight record with 47 wins and 31 of those being by way of knockout – The Black Panther had faced a number of ‘quality’ opponents. This would be a big step-up for 'Magic' Hatton – a World Title win would propel him ‘out of the shadow’ of brother Ricky.

A packed Fenton Manor gave huge support to Mancunian Hatton but boo’d when Champion N’Dou entered the ring.

It was a close first round, with Hatton keeping busy but missing shots as N’Dou dips low. Both men start to settle in during the second round. N’Dou throws a decent swinging left to the cheek of Hatton – his punches are heavy, thudding blows.

Hatton sustains a cut to the left brow in the final minute of the round. N’Dou throws a right to the head of Hatton who counters with a good right hook (almost an uppercut) which lands on target. More...

Hatton stepped up to the scales first - weighing in at 147 lb followed by N'Dou, who tipped the scales at 145 lb.

Both men were quiet as they posed for the usual 'face-off' photographs. More...

Boxing In Britain: Khan Wins, Matthews Stunned In Bolton

By Ricky Jones April 6th, 2008 All Boxing Results

Britain's golden boy, Commonwealth Lightweight Champ Amir Khan, was back in the ring last night, facing Denmark's Martin Kristjansen for the WBO Intercontinental crown in a bout that also served as an official WBO Title Eliminator at Bolton Arena in Bolton, England.

Fresh off a solid points victory over former IBF/IBO Super Feather titlist Gary St. Clair in February, the 21 year old starlet had a perfect opportunity in the form of Kristjansen as the light punching 30 year old Dane didn't have the artillery to trouble Khan.

Khan's handspeed and sharp skills were in evidence, proving too much for his brave but outgunned rival, who was canvassed repeatedly in the seventh before the bout was stopped as a result.

The "Bolton Wonder" improves to 17-0 (13) while Kristjansen suffers his first stoppage loss and stands at 19-2-3 (5). More...
