Don King Productions and Sauerland Event have countered K2 Promotions latest offer to former two-time WBA heavyweight champion Nikolai “Giant Russian” Valuev (50-2, 34 KOs) to face WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KOs) with a deal calling for a 60-40 percentage split.
“They approached us with a $1 million offer for Valuev to face Vitali, and Sauerland Event and I told them we would like $4 million for the fight,” King said. “Now they’ve come back to us with a $2 million guarantee. We countered with a 60-40 split of revenue. More...

Timothy Bradley kept his WBO light welter title last night at Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT after challenger Nate Campbell claimed he couldn't see after suffering a serious laceration above his left eye at the end of the third round.
The bout was entertaining during its short duration with Campbell looking to press the action and wear down the champion through a strategy of energy-sapping clinches, wrestling and short shots on the inside.
The much quicker Bradley wasn't playing along however, and threw punches in bunches, forcing Campbell to cover up and go defensive for much of the time. Seasoned vet Campbell made Bradley miss or largely nullified the effects of what did land by riding the shots but as each moment passed, the champion looked to be gaining more control of the bout.
The 25 year old champion was far more fluid in his movements than his 37 year old rival and the strength advantage enjoyed by the naturally larger Bradley also looked to be causing Campbell problems.
By the third, Bradley had Campbell on the ropes and was throwing all he had into the assaults. Near the end of the frame, an accidental clash of heads occurred shortly before Campbell backed away and motioned to the referee that he was cut just as the third round ended. More...

The big fight this weekend sees Nate Campbell stepping up to light welter tonight for a crack at Timothy Bradley's WBO belt at Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, CA.
At 37 years of age, Campbell, 33-5-1 (25), has had a long and winding career with many ups and many downs. He comes into this bout after having won the two biggest fights of his career, a thrilling split decision over Juan Diaz for the IBF, WBO and WBA lightweight belts in March, 2008 and a hard fought majority decision against big punching Ali Funeka in February for what was to have been a lightweight title fight except Campbell couldn't make weight.
Having outgrown the 135 pound division, Campbell will try his hand at light welter and challenge Bradley, 24-0 (11), who won the WBC title in May, 2008, defended it against Edner Cherry before taking Kendall Holt's WBO strap by decision in April. More...

There were moments of calm and reflection on what was supposed to be a very festive press conference Wednesday as the principals for Saturday night’s huge WBO 140-pound title fight passed on thoughts and prayers to the families of Vernon Forrest and Arturo Gatti, who both died tragically within 15 days of each other earlier this month.
Timothy “Desert Storm’’ Bradley, Nate “The Galaxxy Warrior” Campbell and Forrest’s former promoter Gary Shaw each paid tribute to the two fallen fighters. Campbell wore a Vernon hat and Gatti shirt and spoke at length about his friendships with both. More...

Gone last night at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL were former fly and super flyweight world champion Vic Darchinyan's usual advantages of height, strength and power as the Aussie hard man moved up to bantam to challenge IBF titlist Joseph Agbeko.
Filling the void was the taller, stronger and bigger punching Agbeko, who had refused to be intimidated by Darchinyan's trash talk during the long media campaign leading up to last night's clash.
Agbeko also refused to be moved a single inch by the force of Darchinyan in the ring, handling the southpaw challenger's bull rushes with good footwork and counters, with a solid chin that held firm whenever the overhand lefts and right hooks of Darchinyan connected. More...
