Boxing Result: Kentikian, Graf Retain World Titles, Chambers Wins Eliminator

By Hermann Helmut July 5th, 2009 All Boxing Results

Last night at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany, American heavyweight Eddie Chambers outboxed previously undefeated Ukrainian Alexander Dimitrenko to win a WBO title eliminator.

Also on the card were two world title fights featuring reigning world champs Susi Kentikian and Alesia Graf.

After losing to Alexander Povetkin during an initial trip to Germany last year in another title eliminator, Chambers got right back on the horse and the diligence paid off.

Dimitrenko towered over Chambers and looked to establish his dominance early but the Ukrainian slugger found the shifty American visitor difficult to hit. More...

Exclusive Boxing Interview: Mark “The Dominator” De Mori

By Jim Everett June 17th, 2009 All Boxing Interviews

© Mark De Mori

The heavyweights were once the glamour division of boxing but in recent years has come under harsh criticism for lack of talent, excitement and a true unified champion. Eastern European heavyweights currently dominate the division and the U.S. are pushing their best candidates forward with Eddie Chambers and Chris Arreola hoping they can get a piece of the alphabet titles.

The heavyweight division is in desperate need of new talent, a young fighter that can come up the ranks and be entertaining to watch. Enter Mark “The Dominator” De Mori from Perth , Australia . He’s a 27 years old orthodox fighter, 6’2”, 233 lbs and at first glance looks more like a body builder than a boxer, but don’t let his muscles fool you because in addition to his dominating right he can box well and is able to get very low as he bobs and weaves his way forward.

Admittedly De Mori was a one dimensional fighter early in the pro ranks, dominating his opponents most by knockout, but after suffering a knockout loss he took some time off to become a more complete fighter. The time off and on the job training has worked well for “The Dominator” as he improved his record to 15-1-2 (13).

SaddoBoxing had the privilege to get an exclusive interview with De Mori to get a closer look at this up and coming heavyweight. More...

Boxing In America: Eddie Chambers Outpoints Sam Peter In Los Angeles

By Richard Eberline March 28th, 2009 All Boxing Results

The big action last night was the ten round heavyweight showdown between former WBC Champion Samuel Peter and USBA titlist Eddie Chambers at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles, CA.

Coming into the bout a career heavy 265 pounds, Peter obviously wasn't there to try and outbox the far quicker Chambers and early on the "Nigerian Nightmare" used his aggression to push his rival back.

But once Chambers established that he could take the former world champ's best efforts, he began to slowly but surely pick apart his adversary.

Chambers had little difficulty making Peter miss and countered the far heavier man with enough quick single shots to edge the rounds. As the bout dragged on, Peter became tired and reluctant. More...

Boxing Result: Toney Defeats Oquendo In California

By Richard Eberline December 14th, 2008 All Boxing Results

40 year old James Toney showed he still has what it takes to contend for a world title with a 12 round split decision win over Fres Oquendo last night at Morongo Casino in Cabazon, CA.

Toney showed flashes of his former brilliance with crisp combinations but Oquendo looked to stay away from the former three weight world champion in the early rounds, waiting for the aging Michigan man to eventually tire.

And tire he did, allowing Oquendo the chance to work in the later rounds, but the 35 year old Puerto Rican sabotaged his chances by losing a point in the eighth frame for low blows.

In the end, it was Toney who got the victory, edging out Oquendo to win the vacant IBA and WBO NABO titles to improve to 71-6-3 (43), while Oquendo falls to 29-5 (18).

On the undercard, super middle prospect Andre Ward, 17-0 (12), impressively stopped Mexico's Esteban Camou, 23-5 (19), in the third round and heavyweight Eddie Chambers, 33-1 (18), won his third in a row by outpointing Cisse Salif, 23-12-2 (21), over eight and heavyweight prospect Malik Scott, 32-0 (11), did the same against opponent Raphael Butler, 34-8 (27).
