By Alejandro Tostado October 31st, 2008 All Boxing Results

WBA Bantamweight Champion Anselmo Moreno retained his belt last night at Figali Convention Center in Panama City with a points decision over challenger Rolly Matsushita after twelve rounds of spirited combat.

Since taking the title in Germany from Wladimir Sidorenko, Moreno, 24-1-1 (8), has been a busy champ, defending the crown in September against Mexico's Cecilio Santos and then jumping in against Filipino Matsushita just six weeks later.

The 23 year old San Miguelito based southpaw could be headed for a lucrative unification bout with either WBO titlist Gerry Penalosa or WBC kingpin Hozumi Hasegawa.

Also on the bill, there was a three round technical draw between Joel Cerrud, 19-3-2 (15), and Ronny McField, 12-2-2 (9), for the WBA Fedelatin Super Featherweight crown and Irving Berry, 12-1-2 (7), posted a split decision against Danys Diaz, 12-3-1 (8), for the Panamanian Featherweight title.

Two world champions saw action at Tokyo's Yoyogi First Gym on Thursday night and when the dust finally settled both WBC Bantamweight titlist Hozumi Hasegawa and WBC Featherweight ruler Oscar Larios each kept their belts in two very different fights.

Mexico's Alejandro Valdez came into his challenge of Hasegawa not having lost a bout over the course of 17 contests dating back four years but the Ciudad Obregon man had trouble with the power of the champion in this battle of southpaws.

From the start, it was a close contest and the first round saw Valdez taking the action behind the jab to a patient Hasegawa. In the second, Valdez continued to laser in the jab to both head and body, catching Hasegawa and disrupting the champion's offense. More...

By Danny Wilson June 14th, 2008 All Boxing Results

WBA Super Feather kingpin Edwin Valero and WBC Bantamweight Champion Hozumi Hasegawa were in action at the Nihon Budokan in Tokyo on Thursday night and both retained their titles.

Valero, 24-0 (24), kept his magnificent knockout streak alive with a seventh round pasting of former Japanese Lightweight titlist Takehiro Shimada, 22-4-1 (15).

Shimada used his considerable experience to evade the brunt of the Venezuelan southpaw's firepower and was only down by two rounds on one of the scorecards but the 36 year's luck ran out at 1:55 of the seventh frame when Valero found the target with a crisp right hook, straight left combination to the head.

Valero retains his title for the fourth time and continues his campaign to engage Manny Pacquiao in a high profile showdown but the multi-weight Filipino legend is on a trajectory to face world light welter champ Ricky Hatton later this year. More...
