Boxing In Germany: Ragosina, Shouten, Konecny Win In Langenhagen

By Hermann Helmut July 4th, 2009 All Boxing Results

The most accomplished women's boxing champion in the world today was in action last night as Natascha Ragosina outpointed Laura Ramsey for the WBA and WBC super middleweight titles at the Soccio Center in Lagenhagen, Germany.

The towering Kazakhstan born Mageburg resident Ragosina, 21-0 (12), saw off America's much shorter Ramsey, 9-4 (4), via ten round points verdict 100-90, 91-99 and 98-93.

Super bantam Esher Shouten, 24-5-1 (13), picked up the vacant WIBF bantam belt with a tenth and final round TKO against opponent Bettina Voelker, 6-4-3 (2). More...

Boxing In Europe: Saturday Night Results

By Hermann Helmut March 29th, 2009 All Boxing Results

Last night there were three good cards in Europe and we kick off this report at Mehrzweckhalle Grossziethen in Shoenefeld, Germany.

European Union Light Middleweight Champion Jimmy Colas, 26-5 (11), was dethroned in his first title defense by Lukas Konecny, 39-3 (19), via majority decision.

Haitian born Frenchman Colas saw a seven bout win streak evaporate as ex-WBO title challenger Konecny of the Czech Republic was the busier and more effective man over the 12 hard fought rounds.

One of the most decorated of all women's boxing champions, Natascha Ragosina, 20-0 (12), kept her WBC Female, WIBF and GBU Super Middleweight titles with a stoppage of Trinidadian southpaw Iva Weston, 12-5 (1), at 1:19 of the sixth round, bringing the one-sided affair to a close.

At the Leisure Centre in Altrincham, England, Matthew Hatton, 36-4-1 (14), won a IBO Welterweight title eliminator by stopping former European Light Welter titlist Ted Bami, 26-5 (13), in the sixth round. More...

Boxing In Europe: Weekend Results

By Ricky Jones November 30th, 2008 All Boxing Results

A good weekend of Continental boxing featured three European title fights and we kick off this report at Spodek, the largest indoor arena in Poland in the southern city of Katowice.

European Welterweight Champion Rafal "Braveheart" Jackiewicz, 33-8-1 (18), continued his amazing career transformation with a successful title defense against previously undefeated European Union, German and IBF Intercontinental titlist Jan Zaveck, 25-1 (14).

But it wasn't easy as the confident Slovenian challenger came to win and Jackiewicz had his hands full before pulling out a hard-fought split decision victory after twelve difficult rounds.

Jackiewicz's record stood at 12-7-1 (7) at the end of 2004 after having been thrown in with more experienced opponents such as Antonio Lauri, Ted Bami, Yuri Nuzhnenko, Michael Jennings and Jacek Bieleski but then the Minsk Mazowiecki born hard man went on a tear, going 19-1, losing only to excellent Italian boxer Giammario Grassellini by majority decision.

This earned Jackiewicz a shot at European Champ Jackson Osei Bonsu, a murderous puncher who was on the verge of a WBC title shot. Jackiewicz drew on his long experience to keep Bonsu off balance and expose holes in the Belgian's defense to pull out a tough points decision. More...

Boxing In Germany: Ragosina, Stieglitz Win In Cuxhaven

By Hermann Helmut July 12th, 2008 All Boxing Results

The action in Germany last night was at the Rundturm Arena in Cuxhaven as one of the top women's boxers in the world, Natascha Ragosina, retained her five world titles at super middleweight and men's super middle contender Robert Stieglitz won an important comeback fight following his IBF title eliminator loss in March.

32 year old Ragosina, a Kazakhstan born Russian now residing in Magdeburg, Germany, kept her perfect record at 18-0 (11) with a ten round unanimous decision win over Kenya's Conjestina Achieng, 14-5-3 (7).

But it was one of the more difficult fights in recent memory for the unified women's super middleweight champ as Achieng lived up to her "Hands of Stone" nickname and seemed to batter Ragosina for most of the rounds.

The champion stayed on the defensive all night and was comprehensively outworked by her African opponent but the judges saw it differently and awarded Ragosina a 97-93 (twice) and 96-94 decision. More...
