Adama Battles Past Brewer, McCreedy Edges Walchuk

ByCorey Quincy 17/03/2013

In a massive weekend for Go Fight Live boxing, talented Ghanaian middleweight Osumanu Adama (21-3-1 15 KO’s) managed to defeat a heavily enduring Grady Brewer (30-15-0 17 KO’s) last night in a highly competitive ten round featured attraction at the Tsongas Center in Lowell, MA.

This was a highly substantial bout for the career of both men with the winner to be installed by sanctioning bodies as a legitimate top ten contender at yet another world title shot.

And while neither man disappointed in the intriguing bout with a smorgasbord of minor titles on the line, Brewer’s sustaining aggression was not enough to earn him the tight split decision nod over the younger, technically sound Adama.

In the second co-headlining bout, the more impactful blows of Lowell based Irish American light heavyweight fringe contender Joey McCreedy (14-6-2 6 KO’s) topped off Canadian club fighter Michael Walchuk (9-9-0 2 KO’s) over eight consistently thrilling rounds.

It was a majority decision that slid the verdict in favor of McCreedy, who showed just why area fans have been raving over him for years.

Throughout the scrap, he kept the crowd erupting with cheers of the local pride’s name. Make no mistake, Walchuk did show his worth, evacuating from the pocket with brash combinations throughout and by the final bell, increasing his stock as a fighter. Fans who observed the contest are hoping to see both again very soon.

Topping a massive undercard, former WBA light welterweight champion Vivian “Vicious” Harris (30-9-2 19 KO’s) pushed himself past a determined Shakha Moore (11-18-3 2 KO’s) over eight rounds of action.

There were times both men fought a bit tentative and inactive, but when the chips were down, the more effective boxing was partaken by Harris as he took a clear decision.

Eddie Caminero (7-8-0 7 KO’s) mounted an astonishing fight in a controversial defeat to local prospect Russell Lamour (3-0-0 1 KO).

Caminero proved just how misleading his “losing record” was, wrecking through and knocking down Lamour easily over the first half of the fight.

Unfortunately for Caminero, who weighed in at 155 pounds, Lamour, who scaled 160, had more in the gas tank and managed to dominate the final few rounds and score a big final round knockdown to swing the fight closely in his favor.

This may have been fight of the night.

Iraq war veteran and regional talent Chris Traietti (11-3-0 7 KO’s) pulled through Canadian warrior Tyler Seever’s, 13-13-1 (11), light flurries and heavy momentum to shock him with a brutal sixth round knockout.

Seever, who at 174 pounds was at a disadvantage against the 184 pound Traietti, looked overmatched in the contest but refused to give up until the inevitable stoppage defeat.

Heavyweight Boban Simic (2-0-0 2 KO’s) opened the bill, animalistically raiding debuting Tyler King’s (0-1-0 0 KO’s)defense over two brief rounds. You’d think you were witnessing a street fight with the volume of pushing, shoving and sloppy brawling, but it was surely a great way to open the night.

Chris Billam Smith fighting for Zuffa for the first time this Saturday. I think he is being set up to face Jai Opetia later in the contract. Chris got easily beaten by Zurdo in a unification and we all kn […]

  • Where does Usyk go from here? 27/05/2026
For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC. WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the […]
