Bad news for Herbie Hide: The WBC Cruiserweight Final Eliminator between the “Dancing Destroyer” and Matt Godfrey originally scheduled to take place on March 6 in Cuxhaven, Germany, has been postponed for at least eight weeks because Godfrey suffered a hand injury while preparing for the fight.
Nonetheless, Hide, 46-4 (42), will make his next appearance on March 6 in an eight-rounder against an opponent to be announced.
“I am fired up to get back to Cuxhaven”, says Hide. “I wasn’t happy with my last performance here and I am glad about the chance to show my fans the real ‘Dancing Destroyer’.
"I am not coming here for playing. I will use this fight to prepare for Godfrey. My goal is to become the first former heavyweight champion to win the cruiserweight title and nobody will stop me on my way.” More...

Welterweight Selcuk Aydin, 15-0 (12), has parlayed sterling amateur days bristling with medal winning efforts into one of the most promising professional careers in the world of boxing today.
The 24 year old from Trabzon, Turkey is one of the brightest stars in the stable of Hamburg, Germany based promoter Ahmet Oner's Arena Box-Promotion and shed the prospect tag in April when he defeated tough South African Lucky Lewle over twelve rounds to win the vacant WBC International Welterweight title.
SaddoBoxing: How did it feel to fight in your hometown for the first time in your career? Would you like to do so again or is it better to only fight in front of friends and family every now and then?
Selcuk Aydin: I used to fight in Trabzon a lot as an amateur, but doing a professional fight in front of your home crowd is a whole different story. It felt great to be there and to show all my fans, friends and especially my family, my best boxing. It was a great honour for me fighting in Trabzon and I thank Ahmet Öner and Arena Box-Promotion for making this possible. More...

All in all, it was a pretty good Saturday night and we start off south of the border with a big card in Queretaro, Mexico where at the Plaza de Toros Juriquilla, light middleweight contender Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., 36-0-1 (29), continued his meteoric rise with a ninth round KO of Italy's 154 lb titlist Tobia Guiseppe Loriga, 24-1-1 (6).
The Italian started aggressively but a patient Chavez scored with effective counters and floored the visitor in the second frame. The European fought his way out of trouble and resumed the pressure but didn't have enough power to interrupt the flow of Chavez, who continued to reduce Loriga's energy with carefully selected hurtful counters.
Once he had worn his rival down, Chavez began to go on the offensive and was extracting a heavy toll on Loriga before straining an ankle in the seventh. Despite the injury, Chavez nailed Loriga with a full-blooded right hand that had the Italian Champion taking a much needed knee as he was counted out at 1:47 of the ninth frame. More...
