Gone last night at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, FL were former fly and super flyweight world champion Vic Darchinyan's usual advantages of height, strength and power as the Aussie hard man moved up to bantam to challenge IBF titlist Joseph Agbeko.
Filling the void was the taller, stronger and bigger punching Agbeko, who had refused to be intimidated by Darchinyan's trash talk during the long media campaign leading up to last night's clash.
Agbeko also refused to be moved a single inch by the force of Darchinyan in the ring, handling the southpaw challenger's bull rushes with good footwork and counters, with a solid chin that held firm whenever the overhand lefts and right hooks of Darchinyan connected. More...

WBC Cruiserweight Champion Giacobbe Fragomeni puts his world title belt on the line for the first time when he meets ex-IBF Champ Krzysztof Wlodarczyk at the Gran Teatro tonight in Rome.
Coming off an eighth round technical decision win over previously undefeated Rudolf Kraj for the vacant WBC title last October, former amateur standout Fragomeni, 26-1 (10), is ready for his night in the spotlight.
And at age 39, Fragomeni doesn't have any time to waste.
The Milan based hard man gave European champion David Haye all he could handle in 2006 before a ninth round cuts stoppage and Fragomeni is the favorite to turn back the ambitions of his Polish opponent tonight in Italy's largest city. More...

None other than legendary ex-heavyweight boxing champion of the world Smokin’ Joe Frazier has said of British featherweight Marianne "Golden Girl" Marston, “She’s going to be the Champ.”
Joe's son and former heavyweight contender Marvis Frazier has said of Marston, "Marianne is the hardest working, committed fighter I have seen in a long time. She's very hard for any fighter to deal with. She's strong, fast and accurate, has lots of combinations and punches hard, so hard it's like being hit by a heavyweight."
Ex-middleweight world champion Robert ‘Bam Bam’ Hines said of Marston, “Marianne’s an exciting fighter who’s got it all. One thing for sure she’s ging to be the Champ...soon.”
Former IBF Cruiserweight Champion Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham has been so impressed with Marston that he invited her to be part of his team. More...

When Jersey City’s Polish ex-pat Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek defends his IBF Cruiserweight title on February 27, 2009, against Detroit’s Johnathon Banks at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey he will have an unexpected supporter cheering him on ringside, former cruiserweight king, Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham.
On December 11, former light heavyweight champion Adamek secured the IBF and Ring Magazine cruiserweight world titles in a close split-decision win over Cunningham, the holder of those titles.
Cunningham, who later this year is to face former WBC title holder, Wayne ‘Big Truck’ Braithwaite, in an IBF title eliminator, explained his reasons for supporting his old foe and gave his thoughts on the upcoming Adamek-Banks battle. “I'm looking forward to watching this, itt should be a good fight," he said.
"Their styles call for action. Johnathon seems like he can crack. He can take them as well as throw them. And Adamek, is tough, he's a good solid, fighter. More...

A big show takes place tonight at the Erdgas Arena in Riesa with European Cruiserweight Champion Marco Huck placing his belt on the line against hard punching Belgian Geoffrey Battelo in the headlining contest.
Huck, 23-1-1 (18), has been on a roll since dropping an IBF title challenge to Steve Cunningham in December, 2007, winning four straight including a European title winning effort against France's Jean Marc Montrose in September of last year.
The heavy-handed 24 year old from Bielefeld faces Liege based contender Battelo, 18-0 (15), who hasn't lost a bout since turning pro in May, 2005.
Batello has swept through the lower European ranks at cruiser with little difficulty, but he hasn't come close to meeting anyone of Huck's caliber and will definitely go into this title challenge as an underdog.
Unbeaten light middle Alexander Abraham, 23-0-1 (16), defends his EBU-EE crown for the first time when he squares off with 21 year old undefeated Serbian stylist Nikola Stevanovic, 16-0 (6).
IBF International Cruiserweight Champ Enad Licina, 15-1 (9), will look to improve upon his victory over America's Otis Griffin last time out when he faces the challenge of chinny Colombian KO artist Jose Luis Herrera, 16-4 (16).

As IBF Cruiserweight Champion Tomasz ‘Goral’ Adamek has confirmed that his next opponent is to be Johnathon Banks, this decision thwarts the efforts of former cruiserweight king Steve ‘USS’ Cunningham and his team to secure the quick rematch with Adamek they have been campaigning for.
Cunningham took a little time off from training to give his views on Adamek vs Banks. “To me, that fight could go either way," he said. "You know, Johnathon Banks can crack. He had that big fight against Eliseo Castillo and he got hit and took a big shot but came back and finished that guy.
"That’s a good bangers fight. Adamek’s got a pretty good European style with power, so there’ll be some fireworks in that fight. I want the winner! More...
