Sycuan Boxing Looks To Finish 2008 Strong

By Boxing Press December 4th, 2008 All Press Releases

For various reasons, the end of the year is typically a slow period for the boxing industry. Television networks and promotional companies are closing in on their budgets and boxers typically like to enjoy the holiday season away from the ring.

Sycuan Ringside Promotions is bucking that trend by placing three of its boxers into meaningful, “late season” fights. Former world champions Joan Guzman and Carlos Baldomir are in title eliminator bouts, while their newest charge, welterweight Carlos Abregu of Argentina, is fighting for the first time on Showtime this Friday. Boxing Result: Julio Diaz Continues Comeback With Win Against Fernando Trejo

By Richard Eberline November 1st, 2008 All Boxing Results

Former two time IBF Lightweight Champion Julio Diaz kept on track for a return title bout by outpointing Texas veteran Fernando Trejo over ten rounds last night at the Hard Rock Casino in Las Vegas, NV.

Diaz avoided getting into the trenches with his seasoned opponent and largely kept on the outside, working off the jab and punishing the steel-chinned Trejo with counters whenever "El Pillo" tried to open up his offense.

The 28 year old Diaz, from the desert town of Coachella, California, kept the bout under control through the tenth and final round, taking the cards 100-90 and 99-91 twice.

Diaz wins his second bout since being stopped by Juan Diaz in a lightweight title unification bout a year ago and improves to 36-4 (26) while 34 year old Trejo drops his third in a row to fall to 30-15-4 (18).

On the undercard, Migel Angel Garcia, 14-0 (11), younger brother of former IBF Super Featherweight Champion Roberto Garcia, got up off the floor to win a firefight with Colombian southpaw Walter Estrada, 34-7 (23), after eight rounds 77-74 and 76-75 twice.

An open boxing response from Joan Guzman to Nate Campbell

By Boxing Press May 23rd, 2008 All Press Releases

He’s comparing me to a little rat dog, well I’ll show him that my bite is much worse than my bark. Nate is going to try to avoid me just as much as the other fighters in the division. They’ve all been running from me since I was the 122lb. champ! I am the Sycuan Warrior and he calls himself the Galaxy Warrior. Let’s just make this the Battle of the Warriors!

Nate seems to forget that he’s been defeated five times and tasted the canvas while I remain undefeated. He’s got a lot of nerve to sit there and call me unworthy. More...
