‘Tomasz Adamek’
By Hermann Helmut September 9th, 2011 All Boxing Previews
Former light heavy and cruiserweight world champ Tomasz Adamek's two year quest at heavyweight will finally reach it's goal this evening as the Polish hero will challenge WBC kingpin Vitali Klitschko at Stadion Miejski in Wroclaw, Poland.
Klitschko, 42-2 (39), has won all seven of his WBC title bouts since returning from a four year hiatus and at age 40, could be looking at his best opponent since losing a close bout on cuts to Lennox Lewis eight years ago.
Despite the home advantage, Adamek, 44-1 (28), who ironically has only fought twice in his homeland since 2004, will have a tough hill to climb as Klitschko is perhaps the most difficult adversary to face in all of boxing.
Possessing monumental punching power, particularly the right hand, along with a solid chin, and a very awkward style that features punches from unusual angles, Klitschko is also unexpectedly quick for a boxer standing 6'7 tall.
These attributes will undoubtedly present problems for Adamek but the Pole will bring excellent boxing skills to the contest and should give Klitschko his first genuine test since the Corrie Sanders bout in 2004. More...

He is the reigning WBC heavyweight champion, he has the highest knockout percentage in heavyweight boxing history and he has a huge fight lined up on September 10 against Tomasz Adamek; but does anyone really care about Vitali Klitschko?
The heavyweight division has been losing its staple as the most exciting and dangerous brand of boxing. Not since the days that Mike Tyson was storming through the division have boxing fans and television networks cared enough to showcase the heavyweight product.
Not HBO nor Showtime has paid much attention to Vitali Klitschko or his brother Wladimir Klitschko. The perception seems to be that contemporary heavyweight fighters have no personalities and are not as skilled as heavyweight fighters of a few years ago; the likes of George Foreman, Mike Tyson and even Lennox Lewis.
In fact, Vitali Klitschko's last defeat in the ring came at the hands of Lennox Lewis in 2003.
While the heavyweight division seems to have stumbled out of favor with boxing fans, the welter and light middle divisions are striving and taking over as boxing's premier product.
Among them, Manny Pacquiao, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Sergio Martinez, Amir Khan and Miguel Cotto to name a few; are the central figures in boxing that fans relate to and the names that sell pay-per-view events. More...

Dover Downs Hotel & Casino and the North American Boxing Organization announce the unanimous decision of the NABO Board to sanction the Amir Mansour vs. Dominick Guinn fight for the Heavyweight Interim Title on Aug. 19 in Dover, Delaware, US.

Next month, Mansour will become an international name in the sport of boxing. His road to the championship began 11 months ago at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, when Mansour entered the ring for the first time following an eight-year prison sentence from a drug arrest. His final hour of incarceration was served in a halfway house on the morning of that fight.
During his incarceration, Mansour had a “wake-up call” which led him to turn his life around. He earned a college degree, kept himself in peak physical condition and committed to living a clean, dignified life in which his family could be proud. More...
