Last night in a massive clash between the top Polish fighters of the last ten years, Tomasz Adamek stopped Andrew Golota in five rounds at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland.

Adamek, the former WBC light heavy and IBF cruiserweight champ, came into the bout on the strength of seven straight victories but was making his debut at heavyweight against 41 year old Golota, a four time title challenger at the weight, who was coming off a loss to Ray Austin a year ago. More...

This week, Tomasz Adamek, in a letter written to Marian Muhammad, President, International Boxing Federation, formally vacated his IBF Crusierweight Title.

Adamek expressed his regret in having to vacate the title and thanked the IBF for the opportunities he was given.

He stated,“ I am not leaving the IBF family. I will be fighting October 24 against Andrew Golota for the IBF International Heavyweight Title in Lodz, Poland. Further, when possible I hope to return to reclaim my IBF Title.”

Tickets went on sale yesterday in Lodz, Poland, for the match between the best Polish heavyweight in history, Andrew Golota, and the best non-heavyweight Polish fighter, Tomasz Adamek, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Arena Lodz.

“Tickets are now on sale and everything is on schedule for the Polish Fight of the Century,” promoter Zyggi Rozalski said. “Demand for this event in Poland is very high.” More...

Recent fights have had me thinking that the definition of an ‘old’ fighter needs revising. A fighter in his 30’s no longer seems to be all that old. Rob Norton at 37 handed David Dolan the second defeat of his career for the British Cruiserweight title in what proved to be a thrilling and tight affair.
