While many within the boxing community will argue for the artistry and science of the sport as its true appeal, one must admit that sometimes, a plain old dirty brawl between two bruising heavyweights can be so much fun.
That is exactly what we got on Friday night from the Chumash Resort and Casino in Santa Ynez, California as heavyweight Tony Grano, 16-1-1 (13), shocked the well regarded Philadelphia prospect Travis Kauffman, 18-1 (15), via fourth round TKO.
While it wasn’t the prettiest of fights that we will see this year, it sure was exciting.
From the opening bell, both fighters were throwing bombs with Kauffman’s speed and technical skills appearing to be the difference. He was landing crisp hard right hands and moving well around the ring in complete control of the bout.
In the opening seconds of the fourth round, Kauffman appeared determined to end the night early and landed a series of hard shots that sent Grano stumbling towards the ropes. More...

Light middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo got back in the saddle last night with a second round TKO against outgunned opponent Gabriel Rosado last night at Buffalo Bill's Star Arena in Primm, Nevada.
The meteoric rise of Angulo, 16-1 (13), had been blunted in May by two-time former welterweight world champion Kermit Cintron during a WBC light middle eliminator but the 26 year old Mexican banger was in fine form against Rosado.
Hailing from Philadelphia, Rosado, 12-4 (7), came into the bout on the strength of a shock split decision verdict over former IBF light middle beltholder Kassim Ouma in April but the 23 year old was no match for Angulo, hitting the deck three times before the bout was waved off in the second.
Undefeated super middle Anthony Dirrell, 18-0 (15), stopped Alfredo Contreras, 10-6-1 (4), in the seventh while heavyweight prospect Travis Kauffman, 18-0 (15), belted out overmatched William Shanahan, 7-2 (6), in the first round.

Hard-hitting South American welterweight champion Luis Carlos Abregu has an unblemished record at 24-0, a knockout percentage of nearly 90 percent, banging out 21 of 24 victims, and a number 7 WBC ranking.
So is Abregu a legitimate contender? As good as his report card indicates? The simple answer is, stay tuned.
Much more will be known about the virtually untested Argentine after he faces the more experienced David Estrada, 22-5 (13), of Chicago in the 10-round main event on ShoBox: The New Generation Friday, Dec. 5, on Showtime at 11 p.m. E/PT, delayed on the west coast. More...
