The heir apparent to the Puerto Rican boxing throne was in top form last night, headlining a big show at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City as Juan Manuel Lopez kept his WBO super bantam title against opponent Olivier Lontchi.
Lopez was the definite favorite to retain going into the clash as Montreal based Cameroon native Lontchi had yet to rise above his regional status as NABA titlist and was in over his head.
A champion who can punch like Lopez, particularly a southpaw, presents a very difficult entry test onto the world stage and Lontchi wisely chose to stick and move in the early rounds, catching the oncoming champion with jabs before escaping.
But Lopez began to close distance and force the bout to the inside and along the ropes, where his strength advantage was evident. More...

Last night at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, WBO Light Welterweight Champion Kendall Holt swept back the challenge posed by late replacement opponent Demetrius Hopkins, posting a split decision victory in a bout that went the distance.
Holt negated the height and reach advantage of his previously undefeated challenger by slipping the jab and getting on the inside to go to the body but was helped along more often than not by the inactivity of Hopkins.
While the Philadelphia based nephew of former world middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins was generally kept from forming a cohesive offense by the constant movement and footwork of the champion, he also didn't throw enough punches when the opportunities to do so arose and was outworked by Holt. Tonight, Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City hosts a WBO Light Welter title showdown between champ Kendall Holt and challenger Demetrius Hopkins in what should be a good, competitive battle.
Holt, 24-2 (13), was due to face Ricardo Torres in a third bout but the Colombian bomber was forced to pull out with an injury and in stepped former USBA titlist Hopkins, 28-0-1 (11).
The New Jersey based champion has always been a mercurial boxers, as wins over Mike Arnaoutis and Isaac Hlatshwayo but tough fights against Ben Tackie and Vladimir Khodokovski attest to. More...

Final Forum in association with Top Rank headlined an exciting night of boxing entitled “Fists a Flying at the Aviator” a sports and recreation center in Brooklyn , New York this past Thursday.
In the main event, NABF Super Welterweight Champion Yuri Foreman improved to 25-0 (8), out-boxing Saul Roman, 24-5 (20), over ten rounds with scores of 97-93 and 98-92 twice.
Foreman came out from the opening bell boxing and moving well which continued throughout the entire fight. During the third round, Roman was cut by an accidental head-butt over the left eye. The cut streamed with blood in the fourth round and was examined by the ringside physician who allowed the bout to continue. More...
